I'm looking forward to this game even though I still haven't got around to downloading the first title, it's Dragon Quest so I've come to expect great things

Akira Toriyama is an awesome anime artist! However his designs lack originality and are easily recognisable though - which isn't a bad thing! So yeah, we have what Super Saiyan 4 Goku would look like turned young and tail-less.
The last Joker game had a young Trunks as the protagonist!
Almost Ryan - the first Joker game (if that's what you meant) is a regular DS game. You don't download it!

I noticed a lot of Dragon Quest games seem to lack some sort of originallity even though I agree, they're still brilliant. I think it was DQVI I was viewing the trailer and picked out a DBZ character for nearly all of them

I don't understand why everyone hassles Nomura for his characters just resembling other characters but Toriyama gets away with his outright Dragonball clones. Hypocrisy much? >_>
I have SO not been keeping track with DQ though, but I really wanna get into it since I had fun playing DQ8
I'm just confused about what "Joker" is. How does it differ from the other DQ games that it didn't just become a number game in the series?

It's a Dragon Quest Monsters game, which is like a spinoff series from the main Dragon Quest series (like Crystal Chronicles is a spinoff series from the main Final Fantasy games). The DQM series has you scouting monsters and having up to three of them in a team fighting for you - just like Pokemon.
Why it's called "Joker" I don't know either. That's never really been explained. It could have been just randomly put in to sound "cool" - I don't know. I always thought the Trunks-like protagonist in the first DQM Joker game looks like some kind of jester or something.
