for those of you who follow the english premier league you will know that chelsea manager Jose mourinho (not sure of the spelling) is no longer manager of chelsea so my question or query you could say is who thinks that chelsea need him coz i think that they dont need him he was just an asset but they will get over the loss of him, and it cant have been that big of a loss coz they have already found him a replacement.

A manager who hasn't lost a match at home in almost 4 years, would be an asset to any team. But money talks, and Champions League have been the ultimate goal, and Mourinho hasn't delivered. Furthermore he has been a difficult man to work with for the board, but not for the players, and the board forgets that it is the player group which get the results.

Anyway, the strength of the squad in Chelsea can win with almost anyone at the helm. Mourinho was a great motivator to the players, probably one of the greatest managers in that field.

Here are the official statement of the board.

'With regard to his contract, I would say the specific terms of the contract are confidential,' explained Buck. 'There is nothing in that contract that I as a corporate lawyer would view as particularly unusual in the context of an executive of a company moving on. This is a confidential arrangement between José and Chelsea Football Club.'

Kenyon also spoke about how the relationship between manager and board had slowly broken down over the past nine months.

'I've been as close if not closer than anybody to José Mourinho from the day we appointed him and introduced him,' Kenyon said. 'You would recognise over the last six or nine months, I've been instrumental in managing some of the complexities in relationships around the club.
'The last six months have been difficult for everybody, things in football move quickly.

'I would be the first one to celebrate the club's time with José Mourinho. We've reached the point through the last few days whereby it was right for the club, and for him, to mutually agree to part company. That has been addressed properly, in the friendliest possible manner, professionally. It is now time to move on.'

Kenyon also quashed suggestions that there was any unrest in the squad following the departure.
'I spoke to the players and key members of staff, and I'm not concerned about there being a mass exodus in the summer from Chelsea. I think everybody today is 100 per cent refocused from yesterday which was a shock.'

At the same time, both Buck and Kenyon moved to dismiss the notion that Mourinho had lost faith from the players, with Buck saying: 'This is a personal response but I personally don't believe José lost the dressing room in any sense of the word.'

Kenyon added: 'I think there is absolutely nothing in the stories that have been going round that the dressing room had been lost, and in particular there is no truth in any rumour that a bust up with one or several of our players led to his leaving the club. That should be killed because it's incorrect and we need to move on.'

Finally, after so much focus on the man who achieved so much during his three year stint with the club, there were words of encouragement for the new man, Avram Grant.

'It is very important in a relationship between a board and a manager, or a manager and an owner, that there is mutual confidence, that there is agreement on strategy, vision and approach,' explained Buck.
'We've spent a lot of time with Avram, we believe that our vision is in accord with his and we think he can take the club forward on that basis. He has our full support.'

I don't think they "need" him as such, though Avram Grant is no replacement in my eyes, he'll be replaced soon enough, mark my words.

I think the squad Chelsea have is one of the best in Europe at the moment so they should do fine without Mourinho until someone more capable than Grant takes hold.

Grant has to be replaced according to the rules. He has ninety days to get the necessary badges, which take over ninety days to achieve. He'll be out of a job by Christmas, especially if they keep up like the were today.

He was offered £1 million to give an interview on TV about what really happened. Compared with what Chelsea will pay him to keep his gob shut, that's nothing. xD

I can imagine. Would he really want to give an interview even if they payed him more?

He'll probably give the interview after he gets sacked. :monster:

Chelsea played dreadful today, they were being bullied in midfield and couldn't get the ball up field. Christiano Ronaldo was awesome for Man Utd, he really is a major asset to Ferguson's plans.

He's already been sacked. xD
With a £17.4 million pay-off no less. He's made almost as much money out of his sacking than he would have had he seen out the remainder of his contract.

Now he'll go ahead and make another million from the story, tomorrow's headlines will be buzzing. :monster:

I think he'll lose out on some of that settlement from Chelsea though, quite possibly a lot of it. He'd do better to keep quiet, for now at least. The story will be worth more in a while if nothing new emerges anyway.

If he waits the press will lose interest, especially when a new and more talented manager comes into the picture.

He should strike now while the bacons still crispy. :monster:

But then he'll lose a load of money. It would be funny to see him fuck them over though. :wacky:
The word is that Lippi is going to take over when Grant's time runs out...
