Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

I used Fire and Meteor a lot...okay, maybe not every second, but it was a great move against clunkers like Golbeza, Cloud and Garland.

Terra is still -- despite the downgrade SE/Nomura has done to her (humiliating her character :hmpf) -- a great character to play with. I just wish they'd stop what they are doing to her. Terra used a sword. Terra used magic. Terra was strong. Terra was fast.

But no, what I'm seeing here is their attempt to change her into something she wasn't. :cry :cry

I wasn't even aware Sazh was a village

Er...
Did I make a typo? Ehehehe...

Truth be told, I've not really used Terra much lately, so all I have are the "get to lv. 100" impressions of her, and it was relatively easy, if I recall. I mostly used Holy, Blizzaga and a bit of chasing to do the job, as well as going Esper a whole helluva lot. I apologise if I did make a generalization - I'm probably good with the CPU but suck against a real person. ;)
As for her character, I think it might make sense if she was "extracted" around about the first quarter of the WoB storyline - about the time when doubts began to set in as to her humanity after joining forces with the Returners (is that right?). I agree that she probably deserved a better rap than what they gave her, but it's vaguely understandable.
And yes, she at least needs to use a weapon at some point.

Oh? Its cool, I've never played the game, so everyone else probably knew what you meant xD I was just asking, sorry about that >.<

She's being controlled in this game, so its around the time of her living in the Empire.

A sword or a dagger will do. I can't believe they actually did that to Terra...it makes me sad :(

I see and agree, though they shouldn't go overboard on it. Glad we got all that sorted out, then. :D

I just learned something interesting, as well. We know that there have been 4 new characters come out, yes? However, there have only been two new stages put out and, if my sources are correct, Nomura has stated that there will be one new stage per new character. So that means that there will be two other stages that have yet to be announced.
Thoughts, anybody, to try and ease the wait between new characters? I'd personally really like to see some combat on the entire Red Wing fleet from FF4, hopping from ship to ship in mad combat. As for Tifa and FF7... perhaps a duel in the burning wreckage of Nibelheim or in the very first Mako reactor? Could make for exciting times.

Here are some translated informamation about the character's new moves and their info.

New Character Info

Kain Highwind
Tactical Striker
- A great aerial combatant who can forgo the cool down of his attacks by pressing Triangle to rush in to the opponent.
- 2P Costume is the Dark Dragoon costume. His 3P color is currently unknown
- EX Mode = Holy Dragoon
_____Can use Dragon Sword [Lancet] with R+[], gaining back HP equal to the damage dealt (like Blood Sword/Magic)
_____EX Burst = Pride of Dragoon - Rapidly jam the button displayed to fill the gauge for maximum damage

Tifa Lockheart
[Final Fantasy IV] Feint Brawler [Final Fantasy VII]
- Can cancel out of the beginning of her Bravery attacks with X to feint. If close, she'll sweep around to the opponent's back, if at a distance, she'll rush forward towards them.
- 2P Costume is her black, leather Advent Children outfit. Her 3P is currently unknown
- EX Mode = Equipped Premium Heart
_____Her attacks deal more damage depending on how much EX Force she has
_____EX Burst = Slots - As the slots spin, select "YEAH!" for maximum damage, and end it with Final Heaven

Vann
Switch Attacker [Final Fantasy XII]
- Switches between eight different weapons (shortsword, greatsword, shield, rifle, bowgun, longbow, spear, katana,), and his bare hands. Each different weapon is tied to a Bravery attack, and he holds the weapon corresponding to that attack until a different one is performed. Switching from one weapon to another grants a "Switch Bonus" to the attack, giving them special properties depending on what weapon you switched from.
- HP Attacks are based off of the Concurrences from Final Fantasy XII, and return Vaan to bare-handed
- 2P Color is darker, modeled after Amano's artwork. 3P is currently unknown
- EX Mode = Mist Knack (most likely "Mist!" for English)
_____EX Burst = Quickening - shuffle the options and select the next attack before the timer runs out to perform Red Spiral, White Whorl, and Pyroclasm

Lightning
Paradigm Commando [Final Fantasy XIII]
- Can cycle between her three main roles (Commando, Ravager, and Medic) by pressing L+R together, giving her a different set of Bravery attacks. There seems to be almost no frames in between Paradigm Shifts.
- Commando uses physical attacks with her gunblade, and her Ruin spells
_____Many Commando skills come with Wall Rush effects
- Ravager unleashes powerful, ranged magic on the enemy, as well as her Full ATB Skill Army of One
_____Her Thundaga spell persists on the field for a while, even if she is struck by attacks
- Medic replenishes minute amounts of Bravery without attacking the opponent
_____Cure can be used repeatedly in quick succession, while Curasa requires strict timing for a Just input to complete correctly
- All of Lightning's HP attacks are based around attacks she uses in Gestalt Mode, or that Odin himself executes while summoned, and have her wielding the Eidolon's dual swords, accompanied by swarms of rose petals
- 2P color is darker, with blond hair. Her 3P is still unknown, but she also has a 4P DLC design of her wearing Aya Brea's costume from 3rd Birthday with a black tank top and torn jeans
- EX Mode = Equipped Omega Weapon
_____Quick Stagger gives Lightning a chance to instantly Break the opponent with a Bravery attack when their Bravery is low
_____Grav-con Unit protects Lightning from Wall Rush by reducing the damage taken
_____EX Burst = Gestalt Mode - The Gestalt Dial from XIII appears, and the player must input the correct analog stick+button command to maximize damage and end with Zantetsuken. If the player misses an input, the Burst skips automatically to the finisher.

- Sephiroth's new 3P color is his default design from Final Fantasy vII with no added beads or cloth
- Squall received a few changes; Thunder Barret no longer pulls in. Beat Fang has reduced damage and tracking. Mystic Flurry's first bullet goes directly at the opponent. Blizzard Barret has reduced tracking
- Ultimecia received the Hell's Judgment HP Attack, based off a move her endgame form uses in Final Fantasy VIII
- Kuja received the Force Symphony aerial HP Attack, which has him float above the opponent dropping small flare bombs directly below

Seems like they've nerfed Squall. Beat fang was one of his best moves and that's been nerfed. Looking forward to Jechts new HP moves though. :)

I've been wishing for a Zorn & Thorn new badguy for the sequel. Any thoughts on that? They could probably be played as a type of 'Ice Climbers' way of fighting (from SSBM), one following the main we control.

Though I still wonder if any new badguy will be added, since none have been revealed yet. That would be a let down.

Cheese and rice!

Laguna's been added 8( That's so random... but awesome :jess:

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, WHAT THE FUCK

Omg, this is is friggin' EPIC :lew:

I did NOT see that coming. Omg, how is that gonna work? Laguna clearly looks like his young self, but Squall's still his present age.

Well, looks like my prediction was right about monthly character reveals, but damn...Laguna, just....whoa...

Oh hell, that means no Seifer then D=

But...I like Laguna and...Fuck it, I wanna know how's he's gonna act around his baby Squall :8F:

EDIT: Owait, Laguna makes the total count of new Cosmos warriors 5 now. Unless they plan to release 5 Chaos villains from here on, I guess it is unequal :hmmm:

Oh well-I'm gonna assume Laguna has a POV to play through since he's a Cosmos warrior :jess:

And there's a...world map? o_O

Duodecim just keeps getting more intriguing. I really don't know what to expect anymore.

At first I thought this would be another Dissidia but it seems like it's evolving to even greater heights. Duodecim, can't wait.

Wow...I didn't expect that...Laguna? Wow, that's just.....wow. 8(
The new world map feature looks cool. I hope it's better than the chessboard system in the first game.

I thought we'd be seeing a long-range physical character, but this... this is just frigging epic. I was expecting Irvine or maybe a bowman like Rosa, but this... this came completely out of left field, particularly the fact that Laguna seems to be using "borrowed" Galbadian military ordnance. Good work S-E!
As for Laguna being young, I think a combination of the fact that Laguna was "extracted" from his story (
saving Ellone from Esthar, for those of you who've forgotten
) and the all powerful Bellisario's Maxim.

In other notes, the world map is rather interesting - it looks like a completely new thing, not a mishmash of the worlds like I expected. I feel required to point out the "heart lake" at the top-left hand corner, possibly the prime site of fighting between Cosmos and Chaos (those red marks could be volcanoes... maybe), the Arrowhead Peninsula in the bottom right and an arrangement in the bottom right that can only be described as the Canyon of the Crescent Moon, a la Indiana Jones.
Also interesting to note is the fact that almost the entire world (barring the War Zone in top left, for lack of a better term) is connected - you could walk from Arrowhead Peninsula all the way up to Warzone Vista without needing any sort of vehicle, excluding topographical issues like mountains.

Finally, :tehe: at the pirate dude. Not sure what that's all about, but it has to be awesome.

Yea! Laguna! I love him so much!
aww.gif

So far I'm lovin' the new characters. Now I just want to see Celes/Edgar and Faris, and I'm good! :33

RPG Mode? It sounds a little iffy. I'll try it out but will probably stick to Action Mode.

Laguna's EX Burst is the Ragnarok firing the machine guns and some rockets. What else can it be? If you look closely it has the same shape as the Ragnarok, plus it is the only airship in FVIII that has machine guns and a rocket launcher.
