Someone (other than Riku) explain to me the differences between Beginner, Normal and Proud mode please. Riku says that the battles aren't any harder so he convinced Bambi to start the game on Proud mode, while I stuck with Beginner xD

The Story should still be the same though right? Like there's not any extra worlds?

The only difference between the difficulty settings is the difficulty (news flash, right?). Enemies have more HP and can inflict greater damage, I believe. There is no extra content to be found on the highest difficulty setting...unless you're playing Final Mix. In that case, you'll need to be playing on at least standard in order to unlock a secret ending (yaaay...just go to Youtube to see it or something). If you're playing the original Kingdom Hearts 2, then you won't have to worry about missing content for playing on beginner.

Oh fantasic -_-

Riku is in so much trouble when I get my hands on him, I can see this game taking me a while to complete. I alrready got had off by Axel at the beginning :wacky:

Am I like gunna be totally doomed here? I dont wanna start again as mailing all those letters did my swede in

Nahhhh, you're not doomed. The game's easy regardless of the difficulty setting, in my opinion.

If he said there's no difference between the settings, I'd disagree. If he said there isn't a huge difference between them, I'd agree.

You're at the beginning of the game. Once you get a better feel for it, you should be fine. Might have to replay some bosses, though.

Riku's in trouble, Riku's in trouble lol I had a bitch of a time with Proud Mode, I got owned by most of the bosses XD

Riku said the only boss he had trouble with on Proud mode was Xaldin, but he's a bitch no matter what mode you're on IMO :|

Yes I agree Xaldin is the only story battle I had trouble staying alive. Every one else wasn't that bad just some of them I had trouble doing damage too **cough'saix/xemnas'cough**

I've never tried beginner, but normal and proud mode are similar. In proud mode, enemies do 1.5X damage and you do 0.75x damage to enemies. All in all, the modes aren't that different. Xaldin isn't hard if your battle style is correct. If you like to attack, attack and attack, obviously it will be hard. However, if you use correctly timed guards and reflects, then he's piss.

Oh and the harder the difficulty you do, the easier the secret ending will be to get. Although, as stated before, Youtube is your friend for videos.

The HP of the bosses never increases - only the damage that they do increases but the change is so minor that it's barely noticeable.

You're only angry because you can't beat the Heartless in the Bailey, where Leon does all of the work anyway. :wacky:

EDIT:
The "Learn" and "Jump" reaction commands are very effective with Xaldin, particularly if you have abour seven stored up at once.

<_< Why I let you talk me into it I don't know especially after the issues I had with the first one -_-

And I'm past those stupid gates now, Im having my issues in The Land of Dragons now.......it's gunna be a very testing time, I can just smell it

By the way. I now have three savefiles, one on each difficulty. Is there a way to find out which is which?

In the first KH it stood in a menu somewhere, but in that one you could change it in the middle of the game.

You can!? o_O

I thought the game said after you pick a difficulty, you won't be able to change it anymore throughout the game. Just like Kingdom Hearts.

You can't change the difficulty, at any point, on any Kingdom hearts..

He's right. Once you choose your difficulty setting at the beginning of the game, it's set in stone. No changing it.

By the way. I now have three savefiles, one on each difficulty. Is there a way to find out which is which?

The file doesn't show the difficulty setting? In that case, just load each file and check the settings menu to find out.

It says in the configuration menu. You can also go onto your memory card, and check each save file. If there's no star next to the name, then you played Beginner mode. If there's a non-shaded star, its Standard. If it has a shaded star, then its Proud mode.

I actually played the three modes but I haven't noticed any different, they were all the same to me, though Xaldin was easier in Standard. o_O

I still haven't gone back to see what the differences are, I refuse to at this moment in time, I can feel the old blood boiling just thinking about it.....although if I do, I'l be doing beginner mode and if I die even ONCE on Xaldin....that will be it. I shall throw it in the bin

I swear the only boss I didn't die on was Saix and Luxord, all the rest handed me my arse AT LEAST once

Oh and a thought...if theres not much difference between the modes....then I think I shall not bother replaying it on beginner I expect I will still struggle. I don't think I'm cut out for this game :wacky:

I myself didn't find that there is much of a difference between normal and proud mode. Sure, I died once at the hands on Xemnas, and never at Xaldin (ha ha Bam :wacky:)

so, yeah, in my personal experience, no difference, and I finished at level 47.

Oh, actually, know that I think about it, the hidden video watchable when you finish proud mode, but I don't know if you can get that in normal mode

You can get it in Normal Mode too. It requires you to complete Jiminy's Journal. And you guys can check your save file on your memory card to confirm your difficulty.

The only difference in the modes is just it is harder to fight everything.

In regards to the extra scene Darkstar and Gabranth are talking about, you have to complete Jiminy's Journal in Normal Mode in order to view it, where as in Proud Mode, all you have to do is complete it. That was all I had to do.
