Describe (or DRAW) your own character in an FF world!

Hi folks. Especially you, Dionysos! I haven't left this forum. I've just been busy with life. But anyway...

Imagine your favorite FF world. You enter it. Describe how you would be as a character in this FF world! Or if you can, draw your character itself on top of descriptions.

I already have Chad Thundermember living in FF14's Eorzea, so I'll imagine myself being in the FF8 universe.

I'd be a teen muscle prodigy with a long line of great weightlifters in my bloodline, each father passing training knowledge to his kid until it reaches me in the timeline. I'd carry this knowledge, enroll in Balamb Garden, and I'd be teaching my fellow students proper weightlifting methods to gain physical strength. I think Squall and Zell would get along with me for that.

My weapon would be a heavy and large warhammer.

I'd be left-handed. Don't ask why. I'm just weird that way.

I'd work hard in my Garden studies and talk to Quistis and ask for her aid in requesting the faculty to install a weight training gym by the training center.

On my free time, I'd be fishing in the Balamb harbor for my non-hotdog protein source.

For the sake of extra cash before officially becoming a SeeD, I'd be working part time behind the cafeteria counter!

Well my favourite Final Fantasy game is no doubt Final Fantasy VII (I sometimes make it draw with FFVI and FFIX but if I was forced to only keep one, it would definitely be VII). However, I’m not so sure I’d actually be comfortable existing within that world.

I’ll play along though.

If I was to imagine myself (if we are talking an idealistic, imaginary version and not what I am actually like) in the FFVII world then I’ll pretend I might be a pirate like my FFXIV character. So from now on I guess I’m actually picturing my FFXIV character within the FFVII universe, rather than me myself as a mere mortal with mortal design flaws.

My character loves wine and is obsessed with the Ancients/Cetra. Despite his piratical activities, he sees himself as a free spirit who migrates following the call of the sea, just as the Cetra migrated following the call of the Planet. But he hasn’t actually got an affinity for reading the planet. He’s just weird.

He’ll probably be particularly active somewhere around the Costa Del Sol region, since the Junon region is heavily patrolled by Shinra, but goes wherever. Maybe he raids Shinra transport vessels from time to time, but he has to be careful not to get trapped within the Junon area as piracy is punishable by death (Junon has gas chambers after all).

One day he risks a day trip to the Gold Saucer using his stolen loot to purchase the extortionate tickets for entry. While there, he is arrested by Dio (the owner of the Gold Saucer). Unfortunately his pirate flag (which he also wears proudly on his hat or jacket as an emblem) heavily resembles the Avalanche flag. Assumed to be trouble, Dio tosses him into the Old Corel prison.

Here he remains, struggling to adapt to becoming a landlubber, until chance would send the real Avalanche hurtling down into the prison. Though suspicious and angry at first because of his own fate, he decides he might as well help Cloud and co locate Dyne as he sees an opportunity to get a slice of power down in the prison. When Dyne is gone, he might step up to fill the void.

Basically. He starts his story arc saying “arrrr!” and ends it saying “yee-haw!”

There’s probably a good reason Nojima, Nomura et al haven't invited me to write part of the second instalment of the Remake...

I might draw him in the future and post it here, but for now that’s just a post.


But to be real with myself, if I myself was to be in the FFVII world, I’d probably be squashed by the Midgar platefall, knowing my luck. I’d be a random NPC innocently living my life trying not to harm a soul, but then I look up and wonder why the ‘rotting pizza’ appears to be getting bigger and bigger… Then splat! End of Dan.
