What did you do to defeat Sephiroth? Speak of the time you defeated him for the first time. Name your strategy, your materia and your party in this thread and even give suggestions on how to defeat him. Believe it or not there are many out there who have yet to defeat him and are stumped on how to do so. In other words, place your discussion of the last battle here.

As for me, my strategy was to raise my characters to their full strength and train like mad. On my first defeat of Sephiroth I knew no secrets and I made it there at about level 64 because I was so eager to complete the game. Unfortunately in the same save, I had no idea how hard he was and that my ‘go in a beat the crap out of him strategy’ didn’t work at all.

So I trained and trained until my characters were at around level 80 and Cloud had his Finishing Touch Limit at long last. I stocked my characters up with HP plus materia. And keep in mind that neither Nanaki, Cloud not Cid had their final limit breaks because I didn’t even know about them.

I stuck with the same tactic before, just go in and hope for the best.

All my characters were equipped with were the strongest weapons I had achieved (excluding their final weapons) and common materia such as Fire and Bolt. Nanaki had Neo Bahamut, Cloud had Phoenix and Cid had an enemy skill materia.

I finally defeated him after long last, but it was hard and took a load of defeats until I defeated him at last.

Finally it got easier with the help of secret materia and weapons XP
 
Party: Tifa, Nanaki
Materia: (Master) Fire, Ice, Lightning}all, Bahamut Zero, deathblow+mega-all. HP+ and MP+

Strategy: I used simple attacks on Bizzaro, including Limits, Ifrit, Shiva etc.

When it came to Seraph Sephiroth, I lost countless times. When I finally did it, Cloud was the remaining person, who wasa frog, silenced, blind and poisoned. I clearly had attacked enough times for "1" damage to kill him.
 
Main party: Cloud, Tifa, Barrett all at Level 99
Secondary parties (all at Level 99):
1. Vincent, Cid, Yuffie
2. Red XIII, Cait Sith

I would switch off parties with Bizarro Sephiroth, using all of their Level 4 Limit Breaks, attacking with Deathblow, and summoning with all the Summon materia I had.

For Seraph Sephiroth, I had Cloud W-Summon Knights of The Round, Barrett use 4x Cut, and Tifa would heal and attack.
 
Sephiroth was hard at beginning, but then i understood how to beat him.

First i got my main 3 characters (Barret,Cloud,Tifa) to lvl 90+ then i got a Gold Chocobo and went to get Knights of the Round.

When i used that once he was almost defeated then i just needed to beat him up with more slashes and hits and that way i beat him.

strategy: I used omnislash and let tifa and barrett mime it when their turn finished, I choose mime when cloud turn start then he use another omnislash, and if he attacked me then cloud will automaticlly is gonna summon knight of round.
 
How'd I beat him...easy, did it last night, again

All characters lvls between 50-70 (I know XD)

Bizzaro Sephiroth: Knights of the round once and he's dead
Serpah Sephiroth: DeBarrier, followed by knights of the Round and he's dead
 
my characters were maxed out, but i stillluckily defeated him. he hit me leaving me with 7777 hp. and thats when i wailed on him doing 7777's right back. cloud constantly kept wacking at him sephiroth had no other oppurtunities to attack.so call it a lucky shot.
 
WOW that's really lucky i wish i could of got that instead of dieing 4 times.
 
I don't have the gameshark and if I have I won't use it coz it'll damage the game
 
but counter+KOTR sounds like a pain every attack triggers that whole sequence. Anyway for Sephiroth I basically used level 4 Limits of Cloud,Barret and Cid. The materia was mostly Hp+
 
Well i have never been able to get to sephy. T_T i know but anyway i bro did well he technacly did. he didnt know how to get visent so he didnt get him. also he pretty much had only three charaters with a even good level. (Cloud,Red Xll,Yuffie) And well Red Xll and Yuffie died after that final attack that the final form of jenova did after it dies. And we didnt have any more phonix downs. So he had a beat up cloud and two level 50 charaters. And i now have a scrtched up game that i cant play. I bought another one but that one was also really scratched up too. I also destroyed the first disc of the game.XD
 
that sucks......well get another copy then! u should follow a strategy guide that way you wont miss stuff
 
Sephiroth in darkness: I'm sure you could find a guide online that would help too. But its always nice to defeat the bosses on your own first. So I suggest you get your hands on a new copy, get Knight of the Round and make it a quick job first so that you can then go about completing all of the side quests and training up your characters so as you may defeat him with a different method next time ^_^
