Which do you think is a wiser investment? I'm going with DEF here, because I think it's very tough to outmatch a strong DEF with weapons. However, I had a battle with The Unforgiven, who uses an EVA oriented strategy, and I had a real tough time because my pet simply refused to hit.

Defense and Speed are are both useless against magic. But for the sake of the thread, I will go with Defense. Because when the person finally hits you, you will most likely die. While if you have high defense, you can take hit after hit.

And fgadamwest, try to add more to your posts......

i say defence cause youll be able to take more hits
although eva isnt bad cause if you fight someone with extremely high attack power then youll be able to dodge their attacks if you are lucky

I firmly believe in a good balance of both. EVA can fail you and it needs to be really high. But a good DEF with the correct armour will do the trick. Adding EVA to that will make a very tough opponent. Remember your DEF needs to be higher than opponent's STR and your EVA needs to be higher than opponent's DEX. But armour helps DEF. While EVA pretty much works alone.

ZT does have an algorithm which causes dual weld to miss more than a single weopon. But dual weld's ability to get better hits can sometimes break this algorithm. If the STR is high enough.

Tiel, the only defence against magic is MAG DEF. But against spells like Death, it is worthless. You can cast a spell on yourself to null a spell though.

Summon = Evasion
Character = Defense

Best combination you'd ever need. ;)

Tough choice. I find defense useful...but I think I'll stick with EVA. The reason is because while your opponent is trying his hardest to hit you (and pray he doesn't land a hit for awhile), you can keep attacking him and defeat him quickly enough (that's why SPD is good too) and before you know, the battle will be over.

But well, it's still a good balance between DEF and EVA.

I have successfully broken a high EVA several times with a DEX that was not even close. What helped me was good swords and a high STR. The thing is that if your DEF is good as well, it will help your EVA. When a person's STR is close to your DEF, they will miss more even with a DEX close to or over your EVA. A weak DEF with a high EVA will get clobbered with a strong STR with a good set of dual weld weapons. SPD may help some. But you cannot count on it to help you beat a tough opponent with good DEF.

I say both :cool:

I say that if you balance both Defence and Evasion, or at least have 70% Def and 30% EVA your character wil most likely dodge the attack or endure it. Since the str limit is 300, after reaching 300 you can use your Attribute Points for both EVA and DEF.

Also combining that with High HP helps a lot.

On a side note: Hey Adamant, what about our fight?:P I want to fight the King of Vampires too :lol:

i'd have to say defence, no matter how high your evasion is if you cant kill your opponent quickly they WILL get a hit through evenually and then, well, we all know what happens then. But i guess overall a good balence between the two is always the best bet.

A good balance of the two is the best option, but I think that if I had to choose I'd choose Defense. As others have stated, high Evasion is good but you're going to get hit sometime, and *ouch* when you finally do. I save the Evasion for my summon and let her heal me so she makes up for what I lack [as far as Evasion goes]. Then I have a trained Cura spell in case she gets hit. But it saves me time since I can just keep attacking. As Unforgiven told me once Evasion is mostly luck anyway, and he's right so I don't like to bother with it since it's not completely certain. I will later when I get enough points though and can balance everything.
