Death by Request

In general, the only reason people would want to kill another person is because they somehow conflict with their way of living, and a naively simple way of getting rid of them is to kill them. Of course, if I could kill someone without bearing any sort of consequences, that would be like defeating the purpose of doing a difficult math problem. And I like solving challenging math problems. Easy math problems are not satisfying.
(Now that doesn't mean I want to be able to find a more subtle way of killing someone and getting away with it; it just means I'd rather work around the problem of people conflicting with my way of living using means other than death.)

As for whether or not I believe people have the right to have control over others, I do not buy that idea. It does not suit my purposes, and has the same problem as the reason mentioned above; it turns difficult math problems into easy ones.

I don't think I'd be able to kill someone with complete control over my emotions, a few years ago I saw a dead body and just thinking about the bloody mess is enough to make my knees weak. I would feel too much guilt to put it simply. As for killing someone out of rage, I cannot say whether or not I would be able to kill them.

Heh, I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of some gore. I've never really seen anything horrendously gory in real life. From what little I've seen, I've been able to tolerate it but I would be lying if I said it wouldn't freak me out.

Even so, I think I would be physically and mentally able to take a life. It would certainly help if it was out of necessity... but I honestly do not believe it to be a requirement.

Almost everyone is physically and mentally able to kill someone. All you need is a gun, and in a me or them situation, almost everyone would kill the other person.
Killing in cold blood also has no physical needs, a gun means anyone can kill anyone else. The mental side just requires the potential killer to desire the death of another person enough.
It's no different from any other human interaction, if the perceived benefits outweigh the perceived negatives, then it is rational to murder someone else.

You misunderstand my point and honestly, I think you're dead wrong. I think that people may try to save their lives if they absolutely had to... but I'm not that means they could kill someone. The majority of people have a natural instinct to run way before they ever stay and fight. Secondly, even though pulling a gun may be "as easy as pulling the trigger" it is an action with very serious consequences and for many, accepting those consequences is not so easy. Lastly, I was referring to being able to take a life in the context that there was no pressure on you to have to take one.

Another quick point, I think there is a big physical component wherein a sight that sickening has a good chance of affecting you. Doing the deed is one thing, surviving it is another.
