Prologue

The small town of Vanler, once full of life and prosperity, now laid waste in ruins. The once tall structures of buildings and the town’s wall, all were reduced to ash and rubble which lay under the starry night sky. Rotting flesh hung heavy in the air as a lone figure crushed what remained of a human’s skull under his feet.

His blood red eyes seemed to glow with a pale aura underneath the moon lit sky. His dark wings were ruffled in the wind as he wiped and sheathed his sword. Shifting his midnight cloak he continued to walk down the destroyed roads of Vanler. He stopped at the town centre, where a water fountain once stood, now just a gaping hole in the ground. Staring down into its dark depths he could only laugh coldly into the cold night air.

“The wheels of time are once again in motion, soon it will come again as it did all those years ago. Darkness will again descend upon this land, pitiful creatures they are, they think they are superior to everything and they dare act on that belief… For that reason they will be consumed…”

The night’s air seemed to freeze, as though time itself came to a standstill, when he spoke. He disappeared into a cloud of feathers which were then lost in the nights wind, showing now sign that the figure had been there or any hint of what caused the destruction of Vanler. Only the pale moon and stars could tell you of the story that transpired here, and only one other person could tell you that there was a figure which walked down the ruins of Vanler and disappeared at the gaping whole at the town centre.

Yay! DFX is back with Darkness of Destria. I'm looking forward to the other chapters. Good prologue!

Chapter 1 – Adur

Kamui Shiro woke suddenly, breathing fast and shallow, sweat clinging to the pores of his body as he gripped his head in agony. Slowly the pain began to die down, his breathing returned to normal, as his tensed muscles relaxed. Turning his midnight eyes to the pale moon, his eyes could only be entranced by the moonlight.
“That’s the third time this week,” whispered Kamui softly. Looking over the quiet town of Adur, he could only muse over what had happened. This is starting to get irritating, thought Kamui lying back down to stare at his dark ceiling. Dreaming about something that may or may not be real, doesn’t matter to me, but why me of all people? Chuckling softly into the cool night air, he lay there.
Yes… this is my life after all. Destria, a world full of power, war, corruption, life and creatures which are distorted, both demonic and angelic. Kamui appeared to be of 17 years of age, dark hair falling down to his midnight eyes. A bit over the average height, he has a medium build with a soft tan to his skin, though he didn’t look it, he was strong and very skilled in both crafting and sword arts.
Sighing softly, he rolled over and slowly allowed sleep to consume him.

The sun was now blazing down upon the town of Adur, when Kamui awoke once again. You could hear the loud hammering of his father as he made all of sorts of things as the town’s only blacksmith. Kamui just stared out over Adur, the night before the town was quiet but now, it was full of life. Given enough time, Adur would eventually turn into a small city of people and life. Sighing, Kamui got out of bed and began his morning rituals. Fully dressed, he walked downstairs to see his father hunched over hammering away at what appeared to be a blade.
Chewing away at a loaf of bread, Kamui grunted a, “Morning,” to his father.
“Morning,” grunted his father in reply. He proceeded to walk past him and out into the cool morning air, grabbing one of the more elegant swords on his way out. His father didn’t say anything. This was a routine and they had been growing apart ever since Kamui found out that he wasn’t his real father, or acknowledged that fact. As well as this, his swords sold well, for the elegance he was able to create like no other. It was most likely due to this reason that Adur was expanding, people coming in to buy his works, luckily it still hadn’t gotten out of hand yet.
Sighing, Kamui began his walk to the over hanging that viewed Adur. Upon this overhanging grew a giant oak tree, which held the over head in place. Drawing the sword slowly, he began to imagine himself surrounded by enemies. Slow at first, he steadily began up pick up his pace using the sheath as an imaginary second sword. Dancing a curtain of death, Kamui re-sheathed the sword as the sound of someone clapping filled the morning air.
“You’re getting better everyday Kamui, are you sure nobody has ever taught you?” asked a female standing a little distance to where Kamui was standing.
“Aisha you know very well that I’ve never taken lessons or had a master,” replied Kamui as he put the sword down.
“I know, but that doesn’t stop the fact that you are better then the average person, and probably better then some of the masters in Adur, if you weren’t so shy-“
“I’m not sly Aisha, I just don’t want the attention, responsibility or the pressure people will place on me if they knew, you should know that better then anyone,” replied Kamui as he sat himself down by the base of the ancient oak tree.
“I know that but still…” said Aisha, before sighing in defeat, “we have this argument every day… don’t we?” she asked, walking up to him and picking up the fallen sword, “but… your swords are improving, don’t cha think?” Kamui turned his head to get a better view of Aisha steadily drawing out the medium length sword. Aisha’s dark neck length hair was tucked behind her ears, revealing her dark eyes and tanned skin. She was half a head shorter then Kamui, had strands tied back with a bow and had her usual single piece, orange dress on. She was one of those types of people that were always happy, thought Kamui as he watched her sword dance.
“The sword suits you,” said Kamui after a while as he returned his attention back to Adur. Aisha stopped in mid-swing.
“The great Kamui Shiro has a sword that suite’s the lowly Aisha Sora?” mocked Aisha as she did a courtesy.
“How did I know that you would act that way?” sighed Kamui looking up at the blue sky.
“Because you’ve known me the longest here in Adur?” she thought out loud, “I was the one that found you, you know?” Kamui chuckled softly…
“I know, I know Aisha, I was there to you know?” replied Kamui.
“Yeah , yeah,” waved of Aisha, “ so, what’s this one called?” she asked motioning to the sword in her hand.
“Unforetold,” replied Kamui, “It suits you, its light weight, medium length and seems the guard, blade and name suits you,” finished Kamui.
“Hey, is that supposed to mean something!” shouted Aisha in reply.
“No, just that you’re a little unpredictable sometimes…”
“Well whatever,” said Aisha as she examined the guard. The guard was black which extended a thumbs length on both sides. In the middle it extended a finger nails length outwards connecting to an oval shape extending back and forth about the same size as her hand. A light weight blade extended outwards and the handle was wrapped in red material. A red chain hung from the hilt connected to a ‘X.’ “You branded it as usual? You know people who buy these swords simply remove it afterwards?”
“I know… but that doesn’t stop me from doing it doesn’t it?”
“Suppose not, so is Unforetold mine now?” asked Aisha, re-sheathing the sword.
“I suppose it is… isn’t it?” replied Kamui sleepily as he stifled a yawn. Holding onto her new possession Aisha walked to where Kamui was and began to climb the tree finding her usual branch and sat there contently.
“Dreams keeping you up again?” asked Aisha concerned, dangling her feet back and forth.
“Yeah,” replied Kamui, “Third time this week, its of the same person, but different place every time,” Kamui just sighed as he scratched the back of his head, “I don’t know what it means and even if I did, I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with such knowledge.”
“At least your crafts are getting better,” said Aisha cheerfully, waving her new toy around.
“And as usual, their still not up to my standard,” replied Kamui.
“Well, you know what your father says…”
Step-father, thought Kamui, and he always does say it whenever it is mentioned.

“You have a very keen eye for value Kamui,” said his father as Kamui looked at his new work in disappointment, “that can only mean that you are destined for greater things Kamui…” Kamui could only laugh at the idea, he could never be destined for something greater, and the idea itself was absurd. He only dismissed the idea and began working on the next sword.

“I know what he says Aisha, but the idea itself is absurd,” replied Kamui, “I’m not destined for anything greater, and I’m nothing special…”
“Well I don’t know what you are Kamui, we found you in a crater…” replied Aisha, scratching her head thinking hard, “You could be a god for all we know and we wouldn’t have a clue.”
“Fine, fine,” replied Kamui stifling another yawn, “I need sleep.”
“Yeah you do,” replied Aisha laughing, “The o-great Kamui falling to something known as sleep,” mocked Aisha laughing.
“Yeah, yeah, I get it, now just let me take a nap already,” replied Kamui as he closed his eyes allowing sleep to consume him.
“I’ll leave you alone then,” Kamui heard as though from a distant, followed soon later by a soft thump as a weight landed on the earthy soil.

Aisha looked back at the sleeping form of Kamui as he lay by the tree. She stared at him before sighing softly and walking back off into the direction of Adur.
“But you know something Kamui…” whispered Aisha softly, as she continued to walk towards Adur, her back turned to Kamui, “You are special, everybody know it, the only person that doesn’t realize it is you, and you keep denying it…” Sighing again, Aisha gripped the sword tightly and sprinted her way back to Adur.

I really enjoyd reading this and it makes me want to write a story of my own! but i have a question, whys aisha think kamui is special? aisha said that she found him in a crator, was that the gaping hole that one dude in the prologue was staring into? the one where use to be a water fountain. aisha found him there right? and he some how he was the only one that survived through all that? assuming that other person in the quote below is kamui:

"Only the pale moon and stars could tell you of the story that transpired here, and only one other person could tell you"

but i guess youll explain later! cant wait!

intersting question

for a start, the crator is explained later, so just hold onto your hats, as for the story that transpired in the prologue, the other person that saw it was Kamui, its the dream that he woke up from... it's only vague in the first chapter, but becomes more obvious as you read through the rest of it, i'll upload the rest when i get the chance, but thanks for reading

Chapter 2 – Fallen Angel, Dirakun Blade

By the time Kamui woke, the sun was already setting casting a vibrant display of colours into the sky. Standing up and stretching, Kamui could only watch the sun slowly dip under the horizon. Yawning once again, he made his way slowly back to Adur.

“What is to be done with her? It’s been 11 years and we still cannot remove her memory…” said a male dressed in pure white robes, golden trimmings down the edges. He had blond hair and ocean blue eyes.
“We cannot kill her either, her death is foretold to destroy us, the effects here in the heavenly realm would be disastrous,” replied the man he spoke with. The pair wore identical clothing, though this man had short brown hair and dark brown eyes, with a healthy tan.
“Just leave her to rot in the cell, if she dies a natural death, everything should be fine, and the heavenly realm shall remain secure.
“Very well… moving on, we still haven’t been able to locate him yet, and the gods begin to grow impatient each day…”
“It cannot be helped, we can only prepare for his arrival… nothing more…”
“Very well… the gods must be notified of this simple fact, no matter how much displeasure they gain from it…"

The moons pale beams shone through the window’s of the blacksmiths forge and down upon the forehead of Kamui Shiro, who lay awake staring at a familiar ceiling. Turning his midnight eyes to the moon that hung in the night sky, he slowly allowed sleep to consume him. A heartbeat later, his eyes snapped wide open, as he slowly sat and went down to the forge. Systematically, he picked up tools and began to hammer away at iron ores, heating and bending it into shape. Nobody was around to see him work; his father was a heavy sleeper and was so use to the sound hammer on metal that he didn’t even stir from his slumber. The same could be said for the rest of Adur whom were all use the banging of metal that it was now all a routine and would actually question when they couldn’t hear that sound. Nobody noticed his hands, as drops of blood slowly rolled onto the metal tainting it red. Nobody noticed the red moisture slowly making it was down his cheeks, dropping silently and steadily down to the cold earth below, and nobody was around to see his eyes, his usual midnight eyes were gone, but in the dark, those orbs now stood out more then anything under the moon’s light. They were glowing and now gold in colour.

A girl, with long waist length white hair, sat hugging her knees to her chest in what could only be described as a cell. The dreary walls made that obvious, as did the caged door and the dirt and grim that seemed to cling onto everything. A small, barren, window was located high on the wall as the moon’s pale beams shone through, illuminating the cell and her pale skin. He eyes were closed as she hugged her knees closer for warmth, wearing only the rags she was given. She wasn’t crying, her tears had been used up such a long time ago. The only thing that brought her comfort was two words, which she repeated to herself over and over as she did now…
“White Nyumi…” she repeated followed by, “purity and innocence,” that was her name, white Nyumi, those words were the only comfort she could provide herself, as she attempted to drift off into sleep. If she had her eyes open, she would have noticed a pale and faint amount of energy had begun to form in her cell. Though the cell sealed off any magic, an orb of energy was slowly, but surely forming.

Blood was still bleeding from his hands and eyes; the blade being formed was tainted in Kamui’s blood and was now emitting a pale red aura. Kamui wasn’t even aware of the amount of blood that he had lost, or the pain that was now seeping into his system or even the fact that he was working. But, he continued to work into the night, the pale moon illuminating him and the fire in the forge. The blade, guard and hilt now lay before Kamui; it was red from his blood and still steaming hot. The guard extended outwards on both sides of the blade, a fingers length apart, a hand guard of fine metal extended to the base of the first handle which connected to a second handle, finally meeting up with the hilt. The blade was a hands palm in width, growing in length for a medium length sword. Finally in the exact centre of the guard, a black scorched stone was placed there.
The stone had been found with Kamui 11 years ago, when Aisha found a 5-year old Kamui in a giant crater on the side of a cliff half-a-days walk from Adur. There was Kamui with no memory of his past and with him was that black stone.
The metal seemed to rise in contact as the stone was placed in the guards centre. The sword radiated with, what could only be described as, dark energy as the swords was placed for a final time in the barrel of water. Now wet, the blade was forced in into the cold earth as Kamui stepped back, his golden eyes locked onto the black stone. Placing a bloodstained finger on the stone, he whispered so quietly that the words were almost lost in the still night air,
“Awaken Dirakun,” the sword erupted with energy, starting form the point of contact of Kamui’s finger. The red metal turned black like it had been infected with the plague. The black stone cracked away, as Kamui’s and the swords aura seemed to radiate in synch. It sounded almost like a heart that was given new life. The remaining fragment of stone cracked away, only to reveal a blood red diamond crystal sitting in its place, red lines spread from it like a virus taking the form of molten lava or veins through a person’s body. A short black chain formed from the hilt connected to a black ‘X’, the same symbol as the crimson pendent that Kamui had always wore around his neck.

The soft crackling of the energy orb attracted White’s attention. There, in the middle of her cell, hovering chest’s height off the ground, was a hand sized orb of energy. Curious, White’s red eyes continued to stare at the orb before she tentatively crawled forwards for a closer look. The orb just hung there, suspended in mid-air, crackling as its aura continued to fluctuate randomly around it.
“What’s this?” was all that White could ask herself, as she just watched the orb’s aura weave patters under the moonlight. White let a small smile grace her lips as she sat under it, watching the patters swirl in the night’s air, still hugging her knees but felt a small warmth envelope her body. “This… is nice,” she whispered softly, slowly extending a hand out to the white orb. The orbs aura travelled down her arm and engulfed her body, enveloping her in unknown warmth, becoming part of her. White just smiled softly to herself as her hand slowly enclosed around the sphere.
“What’s that!” came a shout from the other side of the caged door. White jumped in shock, her head snapped in the direction of the voice and her hand closed tightly around the sphere. The next second she felt a pull on her body, as she got dragged into a corridor of darkness.

The guard’s eyes were widened in shock, as the doomed angel disappeared from her cell. “How is this possible?” he asked allowed as another guard came running up beside him, his eyes darting around the cell, to confirm himself that the doomed angel wasn’t present anymore. “This cell was sealed off to the world, no being should be able to break a seal erected by the gods themselves, magical power of any form shouldn’t be able to enter this cell, let alone remove her.”
“What does this mean?” asked the second guard who too was staring into the empty cell in chock. Nobody had a key to enter the cell just as nobody had a key to let anything out.
“It means the doomed angel has been released,” said the first, fear evident in his voice, “We need to alert out superiors… Now!” he shouted as he ran down the corridor.

The dark aura engulfing the sword slowly died down, Kamui’s hand still rested on the crimson crystal, as a body slowly formed on the other side of the sword, touching the other side of the crystal. Blood was seeping down the sides of the sword, Kamui’s golden eyes locked onto her crimson ones. He only whispered softly, “I’ve decided,” before his eyes returned to their normal midnight black and he collapsed beside the Dirakun blade. Consciousness slowly slipped away from him, the only question he could ask himself before the darkness engulfed him was… What happened?

Another good chapter, very interesting ending, i liked it! moree moreee =D do u have the entire story already planned out?

Chapter 3 – The Doomed Angel

White materialized by a dark blade. Her hand rested over a red diamond crystal, on the other side of the guard stood a young male, her red orbs locked onto his golden ones. The two stared at each other for no longer then a breath, but it seemed to last for eternity. White’s legs and arms seemed to be trembling from an unknown weariness that had seemed to wash over her. “I’ve decided,” she heard him whisper. Darkness seemed to engulf her as her energy was sapped and she collapsed by the unknown person’s feet and sword. She could almost kid herself that she heard a thump as another body collapsed to the hard earth, and almost joke that something soft and warm was enveloping her hand. Finally the darkness consumed her, and she remembered no more.

The early morning sun shone brightly throughout the forge, gracing the face of Kamui Shiro. Irritated by the sunlight, Kamui’s eyes slowly opened to be staring at the forge from a side angle. His first thought was, what the… only to be replaced by pain. Clenching his forehead, Kamui slowly positioned himself into a crouching position, screwing his eyes shut.
“What the hell happened?” he asked to himself as he slowly reopened his eyes, staring down at the red floor, “Red… what?” standing up in shock he saw that he had been laying in a pool of dry blood. Kamui’s eyes were wide, looking down at his clothes; he was only shocked to see the blood that stained his clothing and skin, but yet… he didn’t have a single cut or even scratch on his body. “This means, the blood isn’t mine.” Looking around, he saw the white haired girl collapsed a little way from where he lay, and now only noticed the sword that was embedded in the ground. Rushing to her side, he found no blood on her body, no cuts… nothing. Except that she was unconscious and a little cold. Breathing a sigh of relief for the unknown girl’s safety, he then turned his attention to the sword that was embedded in the earth’s tainted soil.
Drawing the blade from the earth’s clutches, Kamui laid it on one of the work benches before returning his attention back to the girl, he just sighed softly. Guess I’ll have to look after her for now, he thought scratching the back of his head. Wrapping the handle of the sword in black cloth, and then wrapping the entire sword in red material, he strapped it to his back before leaning down and gently picking up the female, bridal style, and carried her towards the overhead in the early morning of the day.

“The doomed angel is missing my lord,” reported a guard knelling before a throne. There sat on the gods themselves. However, there weren’t any features, just a humanoid shape composed of pure white energy.
“What!” spat the god, “That barrier was erected by us, no being, heavenly, earthly or demonic has the power to penetrate it! It is not possible for the doomed angel to escape.”
“My lord, she is no longer there,” repeated the guard, fear evident in his voice, but his loyalty was unquestionable to the heavenly realm and the gods.
“Search the heavenly realm! Find her! She cannot be allowed to escape, she still must be in the heavenly realm, do not let her escape to the human realm… Is that understood!” ordered the god.
“Yes my lord,” replied the guard as he disappeared out the hall.

Kamui gently lay the white haired angel by the tree, Hope she’s okay, thought Kamui while he placed the sword by the tree. Walking over to the nearby stream, which flowed down the cliff face through Adur, to the giant lake a day’s walk from Adur before eventually finding its way to the coast. Kamui proceeded to strip, before diving into the rivers depths. The current washed away the dirt, grim and dried blood that had covered Kamui’s body. There wasn’t much he could do for his clothes right now, or for the girl that matter until she regained consciousness, he climbed out of the rivers waters and proceeded to dry himself off to the best of his abilities. After dressing himself once again he walked back out of the forest that the river ran through and back to the overhead.
Checking the girl’s pulse, she’s just unconscious… or asleep… time can only tell, thought Kamui. Sighing, he turned his attention to the sword, slowly and unveiled it.
“Now… a real question, where did you come from… Dirakun?” whispered Kamui as he extended the sword upright. “Dirakun?” asked Kamui shocked, why did I say that?”
Swinging the sword down, and then blocking an imaginary blow before re-shifting into a counter-attack. What is happening to me, what am I, what is all this? Wondered Kamui as his movements became faster and more complex. A small murmur broke Kamui’s chain of thoughts, as he re-directed his attention to the girl.
White’s eyes slowly opened as she clutched her head in agony. Pain is what flooded her senses as she groaned softly.
“Easy,” said a male voice, a pair of hands held her steady as her frame rocked back and forth.
“Where am I?” she asked, as the pain slowly died down. Warmth was slowly enveloping her from an unknown source.
“Your on the edge of Adur,” he said softly, “Who are you, and how did you get here?” he asked, nicely though. White’s eyes were fully open now as she slowly took in her surroundings, seeing the young male from last night kneeling before her… though he had midnight eyes rather then those golden orbs.
“My name is White Nyumi,” she said attempting to get to her feet, only to feel a soft pair of hands slowly help her stand.
“That’s a nice name,” he answered as he held her steady, “It means purity and innocence, it suits you,” he continued smiling softly, “I’m Kamui Shiro, nice to meet you White. So how did you get here exactly? I found you in the forge after I woke this morning.” White looked up at Kamui curiously, before stumbling forwards only to be caught by Kamui, “easy there,” he said gently.
“Thank you…” White replied, her mouth forming unfamiliar words, “But… I don’t know how I got here…” she replied surveying her surroundings, “The last thing I remember was being in my cell…”
“Cell?” asked a confused Kamui, “What did you…”
“It’s an old story,” replied White timidly, “I’m the doomed angel…”
“The doomed angel…?”

“The doomed angel…” stated Kamui as to get a better understanding of it, an angel… who would’ve guessed. “Is that all?” he continued sitting back under the tree, looking up at the girl, “thought it would be something more serious.”
“It is,” replied White, her arms making wild gestures trying to display the seriousness of it, “Because of that, I’ve never been outside the heavenly court or that cell for that matter… they deem me insignificant…”
“White… look around you,” said Kamui yawning, “You’re not in t the heavenly realm is it? Or that cell,” replied Kamui making himself more comfortable, “the real question is what are you going to do now?” asked Kamui.
“Now?” asked a perplexed White.
“Yeah, as far as can see, you’re no longer bounded down anymore, you’re not in the cell anymore or even in the heavenly realm, but rather here in Destria or the human realm…” Kamui yawned once again, covering his mouth with his hand, then finally as he slowly allowed sleep to consume him, “If you… need a reason to live… I can help you find it…” he said softly, before he let weariness take over his body.
