Dagger

I renamed her garnet aswell, usually. I hated Dagger it just didnt sound like a name suitable for a princess. Yeah i know she was undercover but still it just didnt sound feminine at all. So i went with garnet, either that or another random girls name.
 
Yeah Dagger was a silly name. I know she was trying to stay undercover, but Dagger? yeah not the best way to stay under cover xD
I re named her a different name, i just thought anything was better besides dagger. goodness lol.

Hahaha I thought you said you named her "banana". I've actually named characters in Final Fantasy VII after fruit during one playthrough but never Final Fantasy IX.

I find it really interesting how many people kept it as Dagger because they believed it was the name she was meant to have. It's almost as if you're saying that she was more of a "dagger" than she ever was a "princess garnet"... or "banana"... but you get my meaning. It's interesting that people think of her in that light so much that they believed she rightfully deserved that name.
 
In the German version they called her Lilli (after the Lilliëndagger that Zidane was wearing at the time), so I stuck to that name. But later in the English version I also stuck with Garnet (I hated the name Sarah lol and couldn't think of anything else :P)

I have alwayshad problems with changing the names they were originally given. I think it's because I played FFX first and they let you rename Tidus even though there was voice acting...meaning that no one could ever say him name..ever...and then in X-2 Yuna had to keep saying 'you' and 'him' and it just kind of looked like thse didn't KNOW his name. Plus I would probably always refer to a character by the name I chose and it would be confusing. Like, I played Kingdom Hearts before FFVIII so Squall will always be 'Leon' to me.

I kept her name as Dagger but it really bothered me (well...she really bothered me a lot of the times but still). I can still remember the part where she was renaming herself and she took Zidane's dagger and was asking what it was :-)dry:) and then she goes 'I think I will name myself...' and I was just sitting there going 'don'tdoitdon'tdoitdon'tdoit!' because I knew I wouldn't be able to change it...and then she did it...:brooding:
 
I usually leave it as Dagger. But I've employed Dirk, Knife, and other synonyms for Dagger before. :P
 
When I first played it,I renamed all the characters to totally different names. So I named her Alexia. But all my other times playing the game,I let everyone's name the original name. So her name is Dagger. Although I always refer to her as Garnet.
 
Can't remember what I named her previous times, but I did give her the name Vikki on my 3rd and current playthrough. Yus, based on the Vikki who is on staff at these forums.
 
I usually changed her name back to Garnet. It just seemed like a logical choice for me.

Wait, what the hell am I talking about?
