I think we all knew that it'd be a hit when they released the Limited Edition FFVII bundle in Japan but....

Since Japan sold over 710,000 copies of the game, it's now America's turn...

The American software chart for week ending March, 29 has been published and mega-hit Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII took the first place by storm, after 277,653 copies of the game were sold in just four days.

Now, when it hits Europe, it's gonna have sold over 1 million, hopefully, Europe will make it 2 million :)

MAYBE, just MAYBE, this will convince Square-Enix that an FFVII remake would generate even more interest and sales. Don't forget, Crisis Core is just a sequel !!!

Actually, it's a prequel...

and I knew CC would be big! I has the most two important titles in the name: Final Fantasy and VII. What would you expect? Besides, Zack had a fanbase even before CC was announced! I know I was a fan. Can you imagine how people felt when they first announced CC? Pandemonium, and I don't mean the summon monster.

Just to point out, we already have remake threads to discuss an FFVII remake. So please do not turn this into a remake discussion thread. Thank you.

Now, naturally, since FFVII and Zack have already had a large fanbase to begin with, of course this game was going to be big. It's a very high in demand game and still is. That being said just because it's had a high turnout doesn't necessarily warrant a remake as there are equal sides of people who want it and don't want it. Anyway, back on subject of course people are going to want this game as they're going to want more story on Zack, Aerith, SOLIDER, Sephiroth, etc... and people are buying PSPs soley for this game only.

Now if only they had implemented their "worldwide simultaneous release" ethic for Crisis Core. They would have 1 million sold by now.

easilly, maybe 2 million.

It's because they have to translate and dub the whole game for every different language in the world

why cant we all speak English???

Dirge Of Cerberus didn't sell that well

plus you're all forgetting, this is a HANDHELD game!!!

These sales are absolutely amazing, dont underestimate them.

So? Pokemon Diamond/Pearl are handheld games and Diamond/Pearl sold about 14 million.

Dirge of Cerberus didn't sell that well because most RPG games do not like third person shooters. Also shooters aren't hot in Japan. Second, although DoC sold well in it's first week of it's release it got horrible reviews. So, that slowed sales.

Anyways, for a PSP game that is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII selling over 200k a week, I guess that's pretty good. I don't see what's the big deal really?

Well that's good news.

Now all I have to do is save up to buy the game, and a PSP...

why the sarcasm?

If you know ANYTHING about RPG's, you'll know Pokemon completely ripped off everything from the old Square RPG's (e.g the saGa series) and with a few minor modifications it became what it was. Now i wont lie, i LOVED Pokemon, but it wasn't exactly the most inventive game was it?

First off, you're going off topic. (Yes, I know I'm going a bit off topic.) Second off, do not get too cocky with me. I'm not being sarcastic by the way. All I said was that not all handle games do horribly, which is why I used Pokemon as an example. Yes you say they ripped off from the SaGa series? Well, Nintendo made it better!

I'm surprised you like Pokemon because all it seems that you do is bash non-Sony games/systems. (From what I've seen.)

FF didn't have you running around collecting monsters, now did it? :neomon: The guy who thought up Pokemans was actually inspired by his childhood pastime of bug collecting. And yes, we all know it has a standard RPG formula. What doesn't? It was still a unique RPG when it came out, and even today the games are still damn fun and addictive. That's more than I can say for some FF games. If you want to talk about ripoffs, why don't you mention the Dragon Quest Monsters series? Total ripoff of Pokemans.

Now as for Crisis Core sales...I really don't even understand the point in making this topic. We all kinda knew it was selling good, and now that all the major magazines and websites have reviewed it and given it a good verdict, it'll continue to sell steadily I imagine. It's nice to see a compilation game that has some heart to it, for once.

Although I gotta say...it's been out in Japan since September and it's only sold 710,000 copies? That's kind of pathetic, especially considering American sales reached a third of that in 4 days. Maybe the Japanese audience is finally getting bored with VII?

I suspected high sales with almost any FFVII Compilation hit that's released. I mean over the last 10-11 years, FFVII has gained a HUGE amount of fans who play the game for the first time every day almost.

Now, as they play through the original, catch a viewing of Advent Children, and pick up on the rest of the Compilation, their curiosity towards the rest of the Comp only grows day after day.

I agree, although it looks like it has great figures and has already over a million copies (ordered mine from America yesterday) are the sales as good as what they seem? Yes the sales look good but that is mainly because America might have a massive Final Fantasy fanbase, therefore, its only natural that Crisis Core will have sold a lot in its first week, however, the following week shows that it so far it has currently sold less 50,000 compared to 200,000+ and on an even larger scale it is only 27th worldwide for weekly sales. I hate to put a negative point to it sales but both FFIV (DS) and Dragon Quest IX (DS) have outsold it every month since they've been out.

I think what people should take from Crisis Core is that it received great reviews NOT the sale figures.

Really? Wow! o_o Well considered that the DS is up to 70 million sold the PSP has only sold 32 Million so far. Both of those systems came out a few months between their releases.

Yeah, your right but funny that you say that. I've seen Crisis Core get a couple of low scores. I kept hearing the same thing from some reviews: "Crisis Core is a great game but only for FFVII fans."

And about the pokemon games, thats a totally diff story. And you cant compare the dragon quest monsters series or the pokemon series to final fantasy, thats like comparing Tom goes to the Mayor with Death Note.... (not to go off topic for a min sorry)

You can't compare Dragon Quest or Pokemon to Final Fantasy when they are both on the DS or PSP (ie, HANDHELDS). Why not exactly? Pokemon isn't anywhere near as popular (although still popular) as it was 9/10 years ago yet a game that has been out for 80 weeks shouldn't be outselling (weekly) a 'highly anticipated' PSP game that has been out for 30 weeks. Same goes for Dragon Quest in a similar way, most people who have heard or played Final Fantasy almost certainly know that SE are producing Dragon Quest. THE SAME COMPANY!
I'm not trying to compare them in terms of gameplay, all I'm saying is that whilst Crisis Core does have decent sales figures they are from great and have been overexaggerated (ie, 2 million) when the likes of Pokemon sells 8x as much in 1 week (around 1,600,000)...as well as other handheld games who have done extremely well.
Argue all you want but the facts are there in black and white.

Haha, I knew it would definitely come out as a good game, that's why I was (really) happy when I won my PSP via a Sony contest, :) Well... either way I would have got it, even if it weren't as good, :P

Anyways, I've personally seen a lot of non-FF-liking people to like Crisis Core (starting with three of my friends XD)
