So, obligatory plot and rpg nerdism, I tried to have some fun out of the game original plot when Squall is alone for a couple of reasons:
- He can have all GFs junctioned at the same, thereby having all the bonus.
- He can have all the Magic to himself, thereby maximum bonus.
- I don't need to control any other useless character while I'm at it and as Squall is always in the party the whole game, this is a great boost.
So what did I do was simply junctioning everything on him while farming outside until I had enough Magic to boost myself up pretty well, also managed to get Boost and SummonDmg + 10% on Shiva so that I could kill the T-Rexaurs efficiently. Water spells also work well as they junction amazingly well.
So, obligatory Diamond Dust spam, each T-Rexaur has like 18,500 HP and is weak against Ice. He provides you a Dino Bone or Dragon Fang when beaten, also like 750 xp and 10 AP, so it's whoa huge for the beggining of the game and by it I mean before and right after the SeeD test on that cliche communication tower.
After I got myself into a good lvl and also got Ifrit to have Str + 20% and Str + 40%, I junctioned Blizzara (M Mgc Upgrade) into my Elemental Attack, junctioned Thundaga (refine from quest item) into my Strenght, Curaga (refine from Tent) into my HP and a 100 Sleep into Status Junction, T-Rexaur got really easy to kill. I mean, come on, I strike for 2,300 and put him to sleep, thereby striking again with a chance to put him to sleep again, and again, and again. I also have 2,100 HP and good Vitality.
So now I'm here testing my patience until I get bored out of my skull of leveling Squall up here, also having Str Bonus +1 / lvl, which is kind of awesome, I'm lvl 28 right now iirc, and I have only 4 hours of game.
Opinions?

) on the beach. Until I learn at least both Card Mod and Mid Magic Refine. With both of those learned I go and draw 100 of each magic until I have 100 of each Mid magic I can get. Then I might go learn a few more GF abilities and make my way back in Garden. There I will expand my Triple Triad card collection extensively by playing some very easy opponents first (so I can get some decent cards to play harder players) then move on to the players who have the rare card, the Quistis card, Mini Mog, and a few boss cards also. Then with handy dandy guide in hand I find out which cards I need to upgrade my weapon to at least the third or fourth upgrade. And that is how I start my FFVIII game.
but kudos on all the abilities learned you oviously know your stuff
