my interpretation of them is that they had gotten through their problems and were waiting for spike's return. spike didn't return though, so one would assume they go do what they do best.
 
I don't think they expect Spike to return, his last conversations with Jet and Faye make that clear. As for what happens to Jet and Faye, who knows, you imagine they go their separate ways but beyond that is hard to tell. The end of Cowboy Bebop is Spike's story really, though it would have been nice to have got all of Faye's backstory. Like how did such a sweet girl become such a mean woman XD
 
I think that's the beauty with an ending like that. You watch the series and learn all about the characters, what they would say in certain situations, what they would do. With that, you can just imagine different endings using that knowledge. It makes it so much more interesting when they leave it up to you.

TBH, I think the gang will split up. They were friends but at the end of the day, the job was keeping them together. And Spike was important for the group, he basically was tip of the spear in a way. He was on the field doing all the missions.
I imagine Jet and Faye will continue but not together, just keeping in contact occasionally. :hmmm:

... Man I love that show. :gonk:
