Well from looking at the fff members as comic book characters thread, it seems that it is more than just me that follows along with some of the stories.
I was just wondering who all else reads them and which ones are your favorites.

I myself prefer DC over Marvel in the long run, but marvel does have a few good ones, like the new x-men, and the whole Secret Invasion thing they have going on.

DC though, they have JSA, Teen Titans, action comics, Legion of Superheroes, and of course Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps.

I also get more titles from both, but these are my all time favorites.

I prefer Marvel personally, X-Men and all related spin-offs of said X-Men, plus Spiderman (plus spin-offs) and all Marvel Ultimate Comics...
They. Rock!

I'm a DC guy, myself... Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Green Arrow/Black Canary, and Justice League of America are the only titles I have on my pull list, though. I also moderate a GL message board, as I've mentioned before *link removed* I've been enjoying the GA/BC story more than anything else recently, though.

I also collect all of the Highlander comics (Highladner #1-12 and Highlander: Way of the Sword #1-3), but it doesn't look like there will be any more of those any time soon... if ever.

As for Marvel... egh... I'm a Gambit fan, and have a bunch of his solo comics, but for the most part I don't care too much for Marvel. I actually have a nice big box of Marvel Comics in my closet, but I couldn't tell you whats in there since I have no care for much anything Marvel outside the films.

I'm more of a Marvel guy, I really dislike DC except for Batman. So lesse, comics I really like are:

X-men
Spiderman
Marvel Zombies (fukkin hilarious)
Hulk
Fantastic Four

I can't recall any others atm but I'm pretty tired. Marvel did kind of piss me off with the whole Civil War and World War Hulk things though. Cool as they were, I really didn't like how they branched them off into practically EVERY freaking series they had. They basically forced you to pick up issues outside the main Civil War/WWH arcs to find out more info and backstory. Obvious gimmick.

Other series I'm quite partial to are Image Comics's Spawn and ShadowHawk, and of course Eastman and Laird's old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. I also used to be an avid reader of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog series, but about the time Sonic Adventure came out it started to follow the game storylines instead of making original ones, and it just got progressively worse and anime-like.

I do quite enjoy the Highlander comics myself, although I don't own any of them... My dad has them all (I think he might be missing one...)
But then, He did give me his entire Marvel collection a while back, boosting mine quite conisderably...
I'm only not a fan of DC because I really haven't read many of them...
I'll root around and see if he has any and read some...

EDIT: Agreed Carnage, the Civil War thing pissed me off... I don't read Captain America/Punisher so I was like WTF?
And Spawn... those are probably my favourite comics of all time. How could I forget them!
Oh, and all manga, those rock too.

@ Takk: Sorry, I'll have to remove your link. Any links to forums are not allowed in the main forum, but you can advertise in the advertising boards though.

EDIT: I really don't favor the DC comics though they are pretty cool. I usually go for more...comic stuff. :P Like Calvin and Hobbes collections and stuff.

If you like the JLA, you'll probably like the JSA comics better. sure the team is gigantic, but I find the stories better than that of JLA. they freakin have Kingdom come Superman on their team.

and I'd have to agree on the Ultimate comics marvel makes. they are prety good. It's just that many of there other ones have proved dissapointing to me. Spiderman is just not the same without stan lee right there, but that is why I'm watching the cartoon for him. Stan lee is the only one IMO that can make Spiderman great.

I buy JSA comics (like JSA classified) when a) its pertinent to a major crossover, like the Power Girl run in JSA classified, or b) its about Alan Scott... becasue I'm a GL fan... lol.

Nah I mean the new storyline the got going using the old guys (GL, flash, hawkman, wildcat etc) to lead the next generation of heroes, like lighting, cyclone, damage, Citizen steel, the next wildcat, etc.
and I'd have to say that this Starman is the best one thus far, because he is kind of insane in a funny way.

At least someone mentioned Batman. :inlove: I thought poor Batty would be forgotten! :O

I'm much more a DC girl! I love them to death, and adore their creation of Batman. Favorite hero of all time. Because of him, they have my fandom completely.

Marvel isn't horrible, and I like X-Men and such, and particullarly like Rogue and Wolverine. Only thing I've seen of them is the movies, and an old video game that rocked. :3

Speaking of video games, there is a apparently a Batman video game, and I really want it. :wacky: Plus, can't wait for the new movie to come out!

As for other comics, the Buffy comics are apparently alright.

The new Batman game is Lego Batman, looks pretty funny although not really a must buy for me. Dark Knight however is my most want to see movie of the year.

Not as big into comics as I used to but I like reading Batman and Ultimate Spider-Man (and some other of the Ultimate range) the most.

I read the older Batman comics because it's Batman and he's frigging awesome, I'm looking into getting The Killing Joke in time for DK since they take some inspiration from that.

Ultimate Spider-Man is written by Brian Michael Bendis and has easily been overall the best Spidey comic out there since it's first issue. I highly recommend getting most of the trade paperbacks.

The Ultimates is another must read and I would suggest the first 6 Ultimate X-Men trades as well.

I was never a fan of comics but did buy Astonishing Spider-Man when I was little. Did think of reading the X-Men, Wolverine, and other one (had like the F4, Iron Man and others as a team, I forget the name now) equilvilant but lack of money always got the better of it. Eventually I just stopped reading them altogether. Have since got hold of some Venom, Spider-Girl and other 'spin-off' comics but its really not my scene so to speak.

Marvel > DC

Aside from the Green Lantern and Batman, I don't care for DC much.

As far as comics go, I don't really read 'em. I look at the pictures n' stuff. I love the artwork in some of those.

The comic book I look at would be X-Men because I like wolverine. Another comic I would read would be Fantastic four because they have a lot of action. I don't read comics a lot but I do when I go to the library.

I was always more into the cartoon-comic spinoffs, but the 'toons kinda got me into the medium. I'm not much for the really long, ongoing series so much anymore (Batman, Spider) but I do pick up a few issues here and there if the art compells me to buy them. Comic artists are some of the most talented people with a pen and paper, no joke.

Anyways, like I said, I'm more for the relatively minimally issed books - preferabley single issues (V for Vendetta and Watchman for obvious examples).

well if you like wolverine you should be happy considering that he is in so many comics. let's see. there is wolverine, wolverine origins, wolverine first class, Old man Logan, uncanny x-men, x-force, and a few other that i can't name off the top of my head. and of course you could read about his kids because he technically has two. X-23 his female clone and Daken his son.

I have discovered 'Spawn'.

That is all you need to know. Got check it.

[Mod Edit: unfortunately, no it's not. xD]

I probably should read that one some more cuz the last issue i read
he blew his own head off
and that was a couple issues ago so who knows what happened next.

I haven't gotten that far into it really. Few issues after the Angela mini-seires happened.....certainly within the first 50 or 100.

Is there any good sites for the mainstream comics ala onemanga for...manga...?

Anyways, for writers I dig on Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, & Frank Miller most prominently...artists I really like Joe Madureira, fellow Filipino Leinil Francis Yu, Jay Anacleto, & Yoshitaka Amano whenever he graces us with his work with American comics...He needs to do more.

Jay's pencils are ****ing amazing...I would cry to have to be the colorist that covers that beauty up...Though, to be fair, his colorists do a great job.
