because if you want to write a sentence that has a spoiler in it it's gonna look ugly

Before you could go "In FFVII Aerith Dies, it is so sad I was very upset blah blah blah", and black out the dies bit.

Now it's like:

"In FFVII Aerith
dies
, it is so sad, I was very upset blah blah blah"

See how shit this looks :hmph:

Well I did not save the original spoiler code as I had to restart my computer :trollface:

You could always have two different codes I'd think :hmmm: But I wouldn't know :monster: I like both spoilers equally; they're both good for certain things and bad for others (as Toni's pointed out).

I do have a problem.
Because these spoilertags are shite
They make my posts look ugly. I think I will not bother to hide spoilers any longer because of these.

It is all Kira and Pocket's fault.

The whole sentence shouldn't have to go in the spoiler, specially when some of it isn't a spoiler. I am sure Belazor can bring back the old spoiler tags and keep the new ones.

No, it isn't.

It is not dumb because if part of a sentence is a spoiler, then the rest of the sentence has no purpose and no meaning. Therefore, anybody who does not want something spoiled might as well not read the entire sentence.

So if you were to post "John dies at the end", you are saying that posting [spoiler]John[/spoiler] dies at the end is a good idea? It really isn't.

Please tell me what benefit someone gains from reading "dies at the end".

You want to know what actually happens (as opposed what you want us to think happens)? People will instictively hover over the spoiler bit because our brains don't like reading half a sentence.
That's why we invented fucking punctuation.

However, if people see a collapsed object saying "Spoiler: Ending" they will know to steer away from it if they don't want the ending spoiled.

If anybody has an actual rational argument for bringing the old spoilers back in some form or another, do feel free to post it.
