Crisis Core Cloud Staying With Shinra

In the end after the credits of the game,Cloud says "My Name Is Cloud,SOLDIER First Class" so that means hes still with Shinra.
But wont they just kill Cloud? Because they was after him whenn they were after Zack.
Strange Decision Dont U Think?
 
I think it's how he wants to be known
but In final fantasy 7 when he is in tifa seven heaven he says he's Not with Avalanche or with shinra
 
I think So because he always wanted to be Soldier first class Ever since he was little

Cloud declares that he is a SOLDIER First Class because he has his memories confused with Zack's at this point. He does actually think that he is a SOLDIER, when in reality he never actually became one.
 
This has being covered alot. It all unravels when Cloud and Tifa are in the life stream.

Whilst recovering from the Mako addition, his memories of Zack are confused with what he wanted himself to be. He makes a persona that is a mixture between Cloud and Zack. And represses the memory of Zack ever exsisting.


This is why throughout VII he cannot remember parts of his past and why Tifa is confused with him and how he knows about the Nibelhiem incident as he kept his face covered throughout it.
 
According to his initial character description in both the game pamphlet, and the Bradley Games Strat guide - he's actually an "EX-SOLDIER" who starts out as a 'Mercenary' -- an idea that Zack came up with (but revealed in only FF7 at this time, not in CC or AC) as a way to make money. Since that is one of the most recent memory for Cloud, he embraced it, but he still called himself a SOLDIER 1st Class.

In fact, in the first battle you have playing as him, which is before he's given a name by the player - he is simply listed as 'EX-SOLDIER', until you get the chance to give him an actual name.
 
hello?? Cloud only thought he was first class *emphasis on was* because his memories were confused with Zack's and the reason why he said that he's not in Shinra nor Avalanche because the only reason he joined their group is because that's what he and Zack were supposed to do when they arrived in Midgar you know like a job.
 
i thought the reason Cloud called himself soldier 1st class was because at the end of crisis core Zack says to Cloud that he is Zack's living legacy
 
As others have said...

Cloud was never an Ex-Soldier first class. He believed that the things that Zack did he had himself done.. His memories got fuddled up and he repressed the existance of Zack.

He did not stay with Shinra after the Nibelheim incident, and following Zacks death he became a mercenary and that is when Tifa contacts him to join Avalanche, and hence the begining of FF7 starting soon afterwards.
 
If you notice in the classic VII cloud made up his own past.. He only thinks he was in soldier.. he thought he was zack.. i guess when zack died he went through withdrawls and decided to try and take over zack's life or something......

i dissagree. cloud became a soldier! the cutscene after the credits if like a year or something after zack died. and cloud became a soldier because in shinra if one soldier dies another must take his place. it said that in one of the cutscenes. and zack gave up his life in order to save clouds life. so zack became a true hero.:ed::jon:
 
Cloud was only ever a ShinRa infantryman, he was never a member of SOLDIER, he just believed he was until he finds himself later on in t he lifestream

This is what I thought when I saw it. It could also be his memories have already begun to merge with Zack's, but I just thought he took the title in Zack's honor.

Cloud had no memory of Zack's existance until he went
insane, fell into the lifestream and Tifa helped him unravel his true memories
.

He wasn't consciously living to be Zack's living legacy at all. Cloud was confused, he had experienced trauma and most of the memories of his recent past had been smudged, merged and the truth became repressed.

Cloud genuinely believed he was
an Ex-Soldier First Class
at the begining of the game, and it took a lot out of him when he realised he
wasn't
one in the lifestream
. He was never
the big action man
he thought he was at the begining of the game (FF7).

I realize that I have played VII obviously but there is no guarantee that he had already forgotten all about Zack in the scene after the credits of Crisis Core. The only reason to think that is just because he is arriving in midgar
 
Cloud never became a SOLDIER, not even a 2nd or a 3rd. He was a lame infantryman who got a severe case of mako addiction, which I think is what would've been the reason why his memories are the memories of Zack.
 
man I'm happy someone asked this question becuase I've benn playing ff7 and i was a little confused also lol

Also post-traumatic stress disorder played a role in it I believe.
