Close registration for a while!

A newb joins, expecting to be able to go and chat with some people about a beloved video game franchise, but they find out they have to wait a week before they can. What will they do? find another forum to join.
Like I said, THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT TO HAPPEN!!
They WANT use to restrict new members. They WANT us to close down.
Why? Because that is their goal. Simple as that.
If you want to restrict new member to wait a week, you might as well close the forums now. People join because they want to be able to get into the action now.
If you bought a game and it told you "you must wait one week before you can level up again", would you wait? or would you be pissed off and get a different game?

i'm sorry but i have to agree with teilknight on this one, i mean, when i first joined, if i had to wait a week before i could post, i would have forgotten all about FFF, and find another forum, because all i wanted to do was start posting about FFX - which i loved... trust me on that note... so it isn't such a good idea to let that happen
 
Couldnt you just sneak in and find every members IP thats on that forum and ban them?
 
okay listen i was once on a Forum in german it had to do with kids anyway.
you had to register there,and than you had to wait one or 2 days i dont remeber well,when i got the e-mail,but it wasent longer then 2 days, of finishing my register.
Then they had also a Ip ban.
listen there will be always someone who will try to do bad to this forum,and you know why because its a good very good Forum.But i believe if the members and the hole stuff stay like they are now"Together"nothing will and now one can do bad to this forum.
I strongly believe if we Work(stay)together with all the stuff we will show them that they cant to any bad to this forum.
 
to Kaos's idea, that only would work if all of them were raiding scumbags, but then thats just an assumption. ok its obvious that alot of them are spaming this place to almost literally bits, but i dont think an entire forum's population who could possibly be members in multiple forums (including this one) are all spammers. i mean there are many ppl out there who are quite innocent who go to many forums just because they want to be more diverse and read into different ppls ideas upon a particular topic. myself am one of these innocent, multi-forum users. so no i dont think that would be fair. tho i like the idea of banning the IP of those who have proven to be trouble.
 
*Shrug* It was just a suggestion. I saw a similar action taken place on the Brackenwood forums to sort out the members from the infestation of spam bots. You wouldn't even have to make it a week long. Hell, for all I care, you could have the potential members put up with the validation process up for only a day or two before letting people in. Like I said before, they'd still be able to post, but they would only be able to post in one small forum out of FFF.
