I want to clean up my computer and I'm not sure the best way to go about it.

Some people say to completely wipe it and re-format it to start from scratch.

But others say this isn't a good idea due to having to re-update windows etc which may take a while.

I don't know what to do. All I know is that I want my processor to run faster and to stop opening programs at startup that aren't visible to me.

I also just don't want to have random files on my computer that aren't being used and I'd rather not go through every single folder to eliminate them.
I'm saving the important stuff to my external hard drives, so it's not like I'll lose anything if I do re-format it.

I'm sure a lot of programs are running in the background as well, I just don't know how to go about deleting the ones I don't want.

Anyone got any tips on how the best way to start from scratch is without hurting my computer?

Best thing you can do is download Advanced System Care 6 (it's free. http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.php)

Scan and let the program do the rest.

Then go to the second tab, "Tools". Do Disk Cleaner and yeah, after it's done scanning, clean up.

You might also wanna do Registry Defrag and Smart Defrag too.
