I didnt feel that number XII had very many cinimatics, nothing compared to 10.

Are they stopping the cinimatics (Bar the intro) And going with in game? Cause when i first played 7/8/9 it was all about OMG THE CINIMATICS. THen ofcorse the gameplay was "Omg" too.

But does anyone know if they intend to do more cinimatics for 13 and 13 Versus?

I don't think anyone will find out until the games are actually released, or, unless the question arises within an offical interview with SE, which I doubt with it being a minor question since more serious questions will be asked.

However, with 5-10x more storage available they can focus more on detail which means they will like to 'show off' their work which suggests their may be quite a lot of CG cutscenes since I've only seen the MGS4 trailer that looks just as good as the FFXIII/FFvXIII trailers...which is the way it should be considering they delayed it 6 months.

Nevertheless, on the plus side of things, the in-game cutscenes will look much, much better than previous games (judging by the screenshots) which is a huge plus to any game.

I was surprised that FF12 had less cinematics than FF10, but I guess FF10 was just S-E showing off what they could do with a new system. And I suspect they'll do the same with FF13, since it too is on a new system. I really do love the FMVs and all that, so I think they'll incorporate them again in FF13 if they want to get better sales. Details like that are crucial for new gen system releases.

From what I've seen, FFXIII is one big giant cinematic sequence. Haha. Supposedly, the cinematic sequences are going to melt into the regular graphics. I heard the in game graphics are that good. ^.^

All of these fresh scans that we see...they're almost all cinematic scans.
Unless the opening movie is like FFVIII, and it just shows a bunch of random crap that we'll see later in the game...then there must be quite a few cinematic sequences. ^.^

I loved the cinimatics in VIII, IX and X. XII didnt have any :O about it, it was mainly showing the wars, there was no real character expressions, which personaly i find them amazing when they can pull off emotions using cg. looks good, but im hypd for the new FF's. Buying a ps3 just for them.

FF12 didn't exactly have less FMVs, it just had less all out super graphic cutscenes... everytime FF12 went widescreen with a story point was considered an FMV by the company, as they are by definition, they just didn't pull the all out amazing graphics on it as often... hell, there are some cutscenes (like the one at the Hunter's Camp in the Phon Coast) where the FMV goes from regular graphics to superior graphics and back to regular graphics. Not quite as amazing as previous FF titles, but it still had plenty of FMVs.

As for FFXIII, yeah... the graphics are supposed to be so good that the whole thing will be in the superior graphics we've seen in the trailers... hell, if you look at the regular XIII trailer (not vXIII) you can see some gameplay footage on the train (you can tell its gameplay due to the damage number on the screne) and it looks the same as the rest of the trailer... but then its only a couple quick shots, so your eyes may not be able to adjust to the varying graphics, but still... it looks incredible all the way around.

But anyway... FMVs have been a big part of FF since FF7, but as a fan of most classical RPGs, in general, I have to admit to the fact that they were nothing more than a bonus to me. Most all of my favorite scenes take place outside of them, and other RPGs don't bother me in the slightest when none are present... so... yeah... anyway!

Oh, look! Pie!

I'm guessing the intro will be pretty spectacular, but nothing over the top. I ahve a feeling they'll be more than there was in FFXII, but evenly spread out. FFX had a cut-scene almost every area you went to which proved true after you went to Luca at the Sphere Theatre and you could purchase the cinemas to watch over again.

I'll be curious as to see what Squenix is cooking up with these FMV's as they can only get better with the graphics as the years go on.

I hope that the opening FMV won't be like FFXII's was...I don't want to watch 15 minutes of cinematic and then feel completely lost, as if half of the game was told for me instead of me being able to play it. X_X

i like a misleading or confusing cinimatic to start the game off, VIII,IX,X had that, XII didnt, but i was drawn to final fantasy from the cinimatics, since i wasnt aware of this series until i baught X then back tracked. But i just dont want another XII personaly i loved the gameplay but didnt like the story, wasnt enough emotion, didnt get to know the characters enough.

I feel that the cinimatics show the characters well, and ofcorse it looks great!

What Square-Enix hope to achieve is to interweave gameplay and cinematics seamlessly. Whatever happens I hope they deliver it perfectly (as always) and compel me towards it like most in the series.

FFVIII did that a bit where they would show the moving background while you could still walk around with your characters, though clumsy and the character graphics looked really bad hehe. I think doing something like that would be great.

It would be good if they don't have the cinema scenes go overboard where the movies are so long you get lost. FFX had a very decent medium I think, at least I wasn't confused when the scenes ended. I occassionally would get that way with Xenosaga. But its still one of my favorite games so I didn't dislike it that much.

I was unable to get in to the Xenosaga games, however I think FF12 had plenty of FMVs. I find it funny that people are complaining about it not having many, when, in fact, it had well over 4 hours worth, which is 4x as many as any PSX FF title, and quite a bit more than X, as well.

The only difference was that they weren't all done in the better graphics, but if there is anything that the Phon Coast cutscene where Balthier talks to Ashe proved, its that whether gameplay graphics, or the better graphics, scenes like that count as FMVs.

Spose when you include the in game cutscenes xii that they had alot.

Im just exited to find out what they can do with the new system cg wise.

Since im impressed with the trailer to xiii and xiiiv.

Also keen to see new tailers, but i dont think that will happen anytime soon?

There are two trailers for each, that I know of. And I have to admit, the second traielr for vXIII looks truly badass. I really can't wait for it, though I can't wait for the basic XIII, either.

Not to change the subject but has there been any new news on a release date? Even a hint?

Everyone seems to be saying Dec '08 for both, but I don't believe Square Enix has officially set a date, yet.

Hasn't there been talk that Square Enix are to begin using game engines other than their own to create future games such as Epic's Unreal Engine?

Hope there's a lot ... love watching the cinematics ... even my g/f would get into it and know how the game was progressing through them (for X anyway.)
