XBox Christmas decision, Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2

Hey, I know there both slightly different games but I only really have time for one as I don't get to play much. I love Oblivion, which makes me think I should get Fallout 3, however I loved Gears of War.

So who has played both or just one and what's your conclusion about the game? Obviously both will be eventually played but just for crimbo which should I buy ?
 
I haven't played Gears 2 yet, but I've heard it's a lot like the first one, maybe not quite as good though. Fallout 3 is fantastic though, and I'd highly recommend it. I can't compare it to Oblivion because I haven't played that either.
Out of Gears of War and Fallout 3, I'd vote in favour of Gears, so go for Gears 2.
 
Since you're mentioning GoW2 and Fallout 3 in the same context, I presume you are getting them for the 360.

In which case, I would well imagine GoW2 is great like the first. However, like Pools said, it may not be as good as the first which would be a let down to the series. And I've only ordered Fallout 3 for the PS3 from GAME for Xmas, so I haven't played it yet obviousy, therefore, I'll take Pool's word for it being fantastic. Therefore, I say go for Fallout 3.

And if you're from the UK, you can get it cheap.

I'd say Fallout 3. GoW2 was a disappointment. While it is good, it falls short of GoW1.

Fallout 3 is not without its flaws, but it has great updates, patches, and mods that not only fix that but extends the game well beyond its original state.
 
I would go with Fallout 3. Gears 2 is a fast paced 3rd person shooter that really falls short on plot and depth but it's great for online shooter fans. My tastes don't really fit into that category. Fallout 3 is a deep and extremely rich experience with fun gameplay, strong RPG elements, and an interesting story (both main and side-quests). I would take Fallout 3 any day over Gears 2 but I prefer games with substance.
 
Fallout 3 for sure. I just bought it and started playing it. Im sucked in already :D The story is great, the gameplay is nice, and great features like the sniping is sick. Also, I love the freedom of it like in Oblivion.
 
fallout 3 is just oblivion with diffrent people i have been told and i know for a fact you would be bored of gears after 10 hrs of playing it thts how long campaign takes with breaks and the online sucks soo fallout 3 cause oblivion was good:P
 
Take my advice to heart.
Get Fallout 3.

I'll concur with all the above posts, and my own now that I've managed to play it. Fallout 3 is simply amazing, I loved Oblivion and this is just like that...but aimed at an older audience, obvs! But again, I'd definitely recommend Fo3 to anyone. :gmonster:
 
What the past few people have said. Fo3. GoW2 gets old pretty fast. Sure the battles van be intense and such, but Fo3 has prolongarity, and a great story. I didn't get very far in the game, but after watching a buddy of mine play it after he beat it, I wanted to rent it and play it again.

In short--GoW2 is fast paced and short while Fo3 is somewhat slow-moderate paced and long.
 
Get fallout 3 if you like oblivion. Gears of war 2 is fun but i mean RPGs are way way better and this game is indepth as hell
