I was talking to two of my friends in geography the other day, since Mike and Aamir went to the computer room, i sat with Laura and Frayah, and we ended up having a chat about like, babies. And it occured to me "Why is it that girls - and some boys - have their childrens names picked out from an early age?"

I have a name picked out if i ever had a son - Jason - but then i realised that i'm too selfish to have children xD

So, why is it that some people plan ahead with babies? And do you have your childrens names picked out?

No I haven't picked mine yet ^_^

This business can be quite dangerious... If you wish for a child as soon as you're older it can damage your nerves in some way. My friend's cousin's daughter who is 15 just had a baby, her mother said that it had something to do with her and her boyfriend's desire for a kid. Before you have a baby, you must plan it carefully, you must know every single detail and check if you're ready.
I think it's ok to think of a name for a baby at an early age. Why, when my mum was pregnant with Ross I had the name already picked. My parents disagreed at first but then they were happy enaugh.

It's better to have a name ready instead of being clueless when the time comes.

Because those people are the ones who'd like to have them someday - early age or not.

I don't necessarily think that toying around with baby names mean that someone's planning ahead with having babies anytime soon. It's just fun to come up with various names for babies, plain and simple. I don't exactly remember if I was coming up with baby names before I got pregnant though...

Anyway, nothing really wrong with the idea of people thinking names for their future babies. I, for one, have been thinking of baby names for boys. =) I'd like to have a boy someday...

Nope altho i love the name brendon for a boy...not that im planning on having any more children - im just hoping il meet a hot bloke with that name....

I only started thinking of baby names while i was actually pregnant, in the end i just picked something while i was in the delivery room high on gas and air (which should be piped into your home coz its amazing)

I think as a child i only really thought of other names while i was wishing i was called something else - and as for other girls....I guess it depends how maternal you are.....? I for one am not so.........

Id love to have twins, boy and girl called Leon and Leona. All my mates think theyre retarded names, but fuck them thats my choice. Better then being named after a fruit or car like some kids are nowadays.

If I didnt have twins, I dont know.

If i ever have kids i will let the mother Decide on their names as i want my son to be named Kevin and my daughter to be called Sarah but these are common names

Yeah, If I had a daughter I would name her Jennifer and a boy would be Zack (It's not because FF Zack, it's just an awesome name)

Im liking the thought of Kaylee and Jayne. Im a mad Firefly fan and I tihnk both names are just so coolio.

I'm always coming up with really ridiculous names for children, I feel sorry for any children I one day have.

Although my friend and me came up with the idea to spell our children's names completely different from how it's said, as in Dumbo pronounced like Jane XD Okay it's a really stupid idea but it seemed genius at the time =P (although to be fair we were in a coffee place and v. high on caffeine and sugar)

I like the names Amanda and Evanna for a girl though. Dunno bout boy, I'd probably panic and end up calling him David

my goldfish was called Dave...

I actually wanted to call my daughter Eve but my bf at the time wasn't having none of it (why i listened to him i dont know) After I'd already named her I decided I like Isobelle, but by then it was too late

Incidentally, I ended up calling her Eleanor Jayne

Some people take the names of their children very seriously. After all, a child's name can likely have a significant effect on their life.

Still, I don't know why some people plan names out beforehand. Perhaps they enjoy speculating about having children. Maybe it's times of boredom. Or maybe they're really against procrastination...to the point where they complete tasks years in advance! I dunno.

Oh, and I have not considered names for my future children. Hell, I can't say for sure that I'll even have children.

I've actually given a great deal of thought to what I would like to name my children (if I ever have any) and it's just something that keeps changing. I don't think I'll ever really decide until it's time.
