What do you think the characters of Final Fantasy XIII will be like? Will they return to simple but cool like the old FFs, or something entirely different?

I'm hoping for subtley and attitude (i.e. No happy families). Would love more chracters like Irvine from XVIII who don't really say much but can give it all in a look, and fewer bland characters like Tidus who do nothing but whinge. If it's truly as long as all the hype suggests then they have plenty of room for subtley instead of bludgeoning the player over the head with each characters problems the minute they join the party.

It is a touch frustrating knowing so little about the characters at the moment, but I guess this is the earliest they've ever let anything about a FF game slip. It's gonna be a long 18 months...

I really hope ffxiii will get a mature rating like the last remnant. The characters should get into nice relationships and save the world like in every ff game. I think versus and xiii will get a m rating but who knows for agito. Overall lighting is cute but looks to much like cloud. Snow looks cool and sera looks beautiful. The general girl with the blonde hair and sniper rifle looks really awsome and the unknown ponytail guy is ok.

I hope for a change from traditional characters. Any of the following would please me to no end.

-No thieves
-Female main charecters
-Female Fighters
-No morons like Tidus and Vann
-More badass characters like Auron

I really hope their personalities will be different to FFXII's. Too bad we're in the future now and things aren't as good as they used to be. But I really hope that the characters will return to the way the were before.

So far they seem really dark and mysterious, which is a refreshing change from the happy, upbeat characters in a lot of the previous Final Fantasies. I hope that they do actually turn out to be different, because it's time we saw something new and totally bad-ass in the series, such as characters with darker personalities. While I love all of the previous FF characters, I'd like to see characters that focus on the not-so-sunny side of life and maybe don't get the happy ending we're so used to seeing.

Despite the fact that SE are attempting to allow great diversity in their character advancement, I much prefer having designated summoners, warriors, mages, et cetera, though only in the format presented by X and XII (where every character can be used in every battle). It forces you to rely on that character as opposed to every character who has those abilities.

As for the characters themselves, I have no remarkable expectations - I'm confident that another memorable cast will be delivered.

well as zknight7 said, lets see some female fighters, and male mages and healers, that would be great, if they are planing to make that sort of he game where every char has his own affinity. unlike ff12 where u can level them all the same. And i hope that they will be the chars that moves u deep within your soul, and that the summonings, espers, eidolons..., have a bigger part and a character for themselves... thats it :P

Am I the only one who likes Tidus and didn't hate Vaan >_>

So far it looks like Lightening is the lead character, so yay for girl power xD

Actually, instead of Cloud, I can imagine Lightening being more like Squall to be honest. Serious about work, getting exasperated over less serious antics and statements, sarcastic inner thoughts, etc

Snow, he seems like the child-ish rambunctious type; acts before thinking, loud about his thoughts, zest for life too maybe?

Sera...I actually don't know yet; maybe a nice girly-girl who isn't a ditz, I hope.

I don't hate job classes, but it's easier to play characters who have a designated jobs in my opinion.

I just hope that FFXIII doesn't have a License Board system at least; THAT'S one of the things I didn't like about FFXII -__-

girl=fighter
boy=mage
Are you kidding me,if they make another ff game like this i think that i will explode square enix.No but seriously cmon guys its okay to have girl in ff game but when we have girl like fang and snow that is physically stronger than all the man of the planet it piss me off really!!! I mean im a old school ff gamer and i think that if they made game like this all the man will turn gay and say thats so cool fang is my heroe whatever maybe its just me

I don't really think it makes much of a difference. To me at least. In the end, a gunblade or a spear is going to do more damage than a boomerang or bare fists. Not to mention Hope's about 14. He'll have very little in the way of physical strength at that age. Fang's had life on Pulse and Lightning a soldier's training to make them physical fighters. It's the way things went in this game. Live with it.

No. Last I checked, I was a guy. And I still have nothing against women being the physical powerhouses of the game. It's the way things were done this time around, and it works just as well with Fang as it would have with Snow.

What the heck man i talk with my friend and they are too fan of ff and we all think that ff13 is gay.maybe when you talk behind a computer its more easy to say anything

Fang has the highest strenght. So what?

and you know i like the gameplay of ff 13 but the story will never beat old final fantasy like 6,7,8,9

How exactly does a female having the highest physical strength make a game "gay?" It's a nice addition that the male isn't the physical powerhouse. It makes for a nice change from previous FFs, with Barret, Squall, Steiner and Auron as the physical powerhouses. I'm not complaining about them, but change is good.

Actually It states in the guide tht Fang Is a very strong woman. Btw Yuna was a powerhouse in X she had summons which were powerful as hell. (Magus sisters and Anima) Lightning Is really badass and a mad type also if you listened to the game :ffs: So Yes A girl having better strenght then a guy is no different
