Characters Life Span?

Obviously, Red XIII and his race can live for over 500 years (the cutscene after the credits shows him and his sons running through a valley overlooking Midgar in ruins, 500 yrs later)
Anyways, I notice that FF characters for the most part are exceedingly young. I mean, Cloud was 21.
It's like that with most FFs. I wonder why Japs like their heroes young?
Aeris had the shortest lifespan :cry:
 
Yeah, most old guys are normally dead/dying/going to die very soon anyway :jtc: like
FF5's Galuf, FF6's Cid, FF10's Auron etc etc

Agism ftl, damn appealing to young people :sad3:

Its late at the time of writing this. But was there not a scene In between Holy purifying the planet and the Scene where Red XIII and his youngins were galavanting through the valley?

I thought there was? but reading this it sounds like it just skipped from Holy surrounding Midgar. The Credits. then the Scene With Red XIII 500 years later....in Between those 3 scenes you guys are suggesting we dont see Cloud&Co in the highwind?:hmmm:

Excuse my ignorance but it has been a while since I've seen it.
