what are you talking about?? their stats are completely different! Even if you equip your characters with gear that has a bonus to certain stats, it still isn't enough to assume every character is the same. Now what happens if basch was your main black/time mage and used a bow?? Well that character wouldn't do as well if you had the same thing he was wearing, but equip it to say Penello... She was made to be a ranged spellcaster, unlike basch who has a poor MP pool and is made primarily for melee!

In my game Basch was the strogest mage becuase thats how I used him.
Penelo was the hard hitter with Hammers and such.

Supernova, Koly - do you prefer the judges over the main cast? I kinda do, even though I like the main party - I'm just a sucker for those judges seeing as their VA's were amazing

Hmm, now that I think about it, Balthier seems more like the main character than Vaan, lol. Actually, Ashe seems more like a main character than Vaan...

Wait, is Vaan even considered as a main character? o.o Well anyway, I was kinda surprised too that he was a judge. He would've made a good judge, IMO, but I think being a Sky Pirate suited him more.

If only Cid hadn't become obsessed with nethicite like he did, then Balthier may have become a Magister in time - it seems unlikely tho, as all the judge Magisters seem to be 30+
