Cait Sith is Scottish?

The furst time i heard his voice in AC i just burst out laughing because i wasent expecting it to be Scottish, but oddly enough i think it suits him.

The first time I watched Advent Children, I didn't even notice Cait Sith. XD

Second time I actually payed attention. I was like, "OMG. Is that Cait Sith? O_O"

It was when I saw this thread that I actually realized he had a Scottish accent. I hadn't payed much attention to him before. But I like Cait Sith with a Scottish accent. It suits him well. ^^

Also remember that Midgar comes from Norsk mythology :) And in DoC, I'm pretty sure that Rosso, Azul, and Nero are all Italian for Red, Blue, and Black (correct me if I'm wrong).

Oh yes, and I'm American, and I find accents to be sexy! I don't find them weird at all, and I don't think the American voices were thin and unnoticeable in AC, so don't turn this into a "ahah omg American voices suck" thing. I don't deny that I have an accent...I speak redneck. LOL

It's not like I'm bashing Americans (just bashing Bush). I have what most Canadians would consider no accent (my newfie accent is a talent that I can turn on and off :P I talk like a normal Canadian most of the time). And redneck aint that noticeable. But anyways, back to the wierd Scottish Cat...

Honestly, Cait Sith never struck me as Scottish in the game. He got me as a more lowly (not in stature) American kinda guy. Then, after the Temple of the Ancients, I expected him to have a Texas accent (due to the constant y'alls). And now they turn him Scottish! What is this guy, Cait Sith Toy Number 3? I liked his accent though.

I really liked how much time he got in DoC though. Let's you understand his character more. He was confusing in FFVII.

Yea I have to agree with jubei... it does kinda seem like Cait Sith is scottish but in the game he wasn't... so which are you going to go by? The original or a movie about it? I would go with the game and besides he's Texan later in the game so I think they just messed up with the voice (I don't think they expected people to make a thread on a forum about a minor character's voice)

Good grief ...

I've got nothing against Scottish accents, but I didn;t think it suited Cait Sith at all! But I guess it would make sense if 'Cait Sith' is from a Scottish Fairy Tale...

I love his accent too. ^_^ Hence, I love Scottish accents! I think they're cute...they kinda bark, lol. Too bad Cait Sith didn't really have a lot of lines in the movie.

I always pictured him with a kind of nasal kitty voice. LOL.

The term "Cait Sith" is in fact Scottish. Wikipedia it for more details. I for one wish they didn't go overboard on his dialogue. I didn't know what the hell he was saying most of the time.

Me Either. i don't think i understood more than a sentance out of that creature.

I really didn't like the Scottish accent. Yeah, I know Cait Sith is a scottish cat fairy, but it really sounded out of place. Why would Reeve give a robot a scottish accent? Reeve himself didn't have a scottish accent because we heard him talk earlier in the game. So why would he suddenly talk with one using Cait Sith?

Yuffie is a ninja. They didn't give her a Japanese accent.
Aeris is dead. They didn't have her talk like a halloween ghost.
Red XIII culture is based off of Native American Culture. They didn't have him say his one line like a stereotypical Indian Chief.

So why have Cait Sith talk in a Scottish accent?

BTW I hated Cid's hick accent too.

When I heard Cait Sith's Scottish accent I was surprised but I thought it worked well.

I was surprised by his scottish accent; I didn't see him with one and I don't think it suited the character. It kind of got on my nerves and so did he as a matter of fact. I'm glad he didn't have that many lines.

This all boils down to the fact that we played FFVII without hearing the voices. I never "heard" Cait as Scottish but I do like it, I also think its a great character trait to Reeve, that he did. Oh also... there is no Scotland in FFVII... but there is a Texas and a Greece (See my thread Earth-cenric terms) for more details.

Any way, in my opinion I loved all of the accents, Cid is definately Southern States America. Yuffie's was a bit annoying, like her character, Tifa's was intellegent and sexy (like her character), Vinces was cool but animated, Clouds must have been a nightmare to cast and I think It's brilliant.
