Buster sword challenge

Im not new to the series i have a qiut a reprituar of the FF games. i have beeten VII once before but it wasnt enouph. SO i started the buster sword only on cloud and i need some tips if anyone can give them it would be very helpful.

buster sword challenge? i assume this means only using the buster sword through the whole game. i guess you should focus on giving cloud powerful magic like fire and ice and actually leveling them up. also, give him some good support characters who can power him up

I'm assuming that you're not doing a solo run or anything, just leaving the Buster Sword on Cloud?

Have Barret as your damage magnet. Fairly early in the game, you can have Cover + Counterattack, which is later supplemented by HP Up and more Counterattacks (having 2 of that materia yields 2 counterattacks, which is fun).

Stick Cloud in the back row, weigh him down with materia and let Barret protect him, you should last longer that way. Though to be fair, it shouldn't be too hard, because all you're doing is giving Cloud the mage role, which he can handle better than pretty much any other character (Aeris, possibly Yuffie aside).

Just level Cloud up and have him master some powerful materia. Have someone as a healer, just in case. If you don't have anyone in the position, then give Cloud Cure, Protect, anything that could help your party defensively. Use someone else as your heavy hitter 'cause Cloud could be materia loaded by now.
