Feedback bTech Skins Update

Not sure if you guys noticed, but the bTech skin has been installed in the system since late August. Just never made an announcement as we looked into it bit by bit. For now, currently working on bTech blue. Go ahead and give it a try, see if it's to your liking or if you prefer Seamus. Other colors will be updated in a few weeks. You'll no doubt notice some things that will need updating, so please use this thread to report any bugs or issues you might encounter, and we'll do our best to fix that.

Banners will be updated as soon as I get a hold of Fil.

As you can see, we toned down the colors a bit. The left side has gradient included, while the right side is more flat. If you guys can give me your input or preference, that would be great. Personally, I like the flat look. Less distracting. Heck, we might even redo the whole thing. Not a fan of the sides. =P

We also changed the post background and took out gradient. It was a bit too much.

Anything else you see, CMS included, jot them down here and we'll go through the list. If you can provide screenshots, even better.

This is a huge work-in-progress that will take a few weeks, so please be patient.

Update*

This time around we will be assigning one banner per bTech Skin. No rotating banners like the Seamus skins. We just want to try out something different. This way there is some variety for all skins, and not a load of rotating banners, instead the skins will have unique banners assigned.

This may change at a later point in time, but for now, we want to experiment with something different.

Update: We're still working on the skins, if you notice any errors that do not include colour variations, feel free to give us heads up. The colours we are still working on smoothing out.

We're currently working on the orange, actually. Any errors, bar colours, can help us look in to things. We're still tweaking on the orange, hopefully get it done tonight. =]

will you make new banners or will you re-use the rotating ones but just assign them their own skin?

For now, we are going to be using the same banners as we have on the Seamus skins. However, we won't be rotating. Each skin template will have their own banner assigned. For example: The green skin will have Lewis' banner.

I have no objections against making new banners for just the new skins though. =] Perhaps once we're done with the skins, it's something we can look in to.

All the major colour tweaking have been done. bTech Red, Orange, Purple. Green and Blue are now ready for use. We're still in the process of working on every little detail, but the major colour changes are there. Enjoy, and if you notice any errors/weird-looking-things, give us a heads up!

Few things we are aware of we still have to work on:

• CMS stylizing.
• Post font and pre-set font colours.
• Post and signature spacing.
• Reputation bar showing up twice in Post-bit.

Updated last night:

• Banners up - one per bTech skin
• Post and signature space fixed

Fil disabled the Arcade for now, so that those using a laptop can properly view the navbar. Also reverted the templates so that the post font/colors apply to all skins.

I'll be working on the CMS stylizing today.

It's definitely more lightweight compared to the primary skin at the moment. Nice work being done on it too.

Blue is a great color choice.

Another problem I've come across...

When clicking "New Posts" right above the Top 5 Stats bar, all it brings up in the Search Results are Articles from CMS. Has never done this for me before, as I always use this function.

Mitsuki, maybe a technical issue on that end?

Odd. Works fine for me. New Posts is essentially 'What's New' in the navbar. Try clicking that. Or switch to other skins and see if it's behaving the same way for you.

 

[Ethics]

The only issue I have with orange is that the banner is too light. The white text on such a light background can make it hard to see, but nothing too bad like I have no idea where I'm clicking. I'm just bitching to bitch.

It does look fine in 1080, but the "Inbox" is pretty much completely obscured on 1440x900, which is what I use primarily for the forums.

I was trying to figure this one out. The Rep power bar shows up properly for me. Can you provide a screenshot?

Only shows up once for me now too, it did infact show up twice when it was mentioned though, I hope the problem is fixed all together.

Gallery needs to be updated.

Gallery will be the last thing I update, since the setup for that is somewhat tricky. (Ended up setting a child skin to inherit some of the default settings I wanted to keep, while changing other variables without affecting the main style).

@Lady Liberty - Glad to you like it! Collab by Kira and I. It was a spur of the moment thing, didn't have time to make it into a contest. Hoping to do a winter theme for late November.

I haven't been working on the skins for the past several days, so apologies for the delay. I'll get back into it later tonight.
