After playing through Final Fantasy 12 and watching Advent Children then hearing news about Final Fantasy 14 being online like Final Fantasy 11..

Kinda lost hope for the future of Final Fantasy games and was thinking that the series was starting to head downhill and might stop being interested/ stop playing the games.

But after seeing Final Fantasy 13 pictures and all the new characters coming out like Hope and Jill and hearing more about the awesome improved battle system and the games storyline/ plot..

Just starting to feel like Final Fantasy 13 Is bringing back the hope and faith back into the Final Fantasy series and haven't felt in so long rushing out into stores and grabbing a Final Fantasy game the hour it comes out since Final Fantasy X came out..

Is anybody else starting to feel more thrilled and excited over the Final Fantasy series and is starting to feel really great/ hopeful about this Final Fantasy game...??

Mean is starting to think that the person who said that the Number 13 was unlucky was a looser.. xD

I hate to say this, I really do... But I'm finding myself no more interested than I was for FFXII. Which... Well I wasn't very interested.

I'm not fond of the setting, I'm not fond of the concepts, and I'm not fond of the character designs. Granted this doesn't mean I'm giving up, after all I haven't played the game and determined whether or not I'm wrong about the direction I fear the franchise is headed, but I've seriously doubted Square-Enix's ability to make RPG's ever since FFX. That (IMO) was the last Suare-Enix RPG product that interested me.

I hope I'm wrong, I really mean that, but (if you'll pardon the cliched line) I'm getting a bad feeling about this...

I'm excited, yes, but part of me is still a little worried about the game. But if I don't like it then I guess I don't have to like it.

It is looking more and more promising as more information is revealed about the game but I haven't heard enough about it to get me super interested. I'm more excited about Dissidia coming out within a week than I am about FFXIII.

I am interested to see how the character Sazh Kilzroy (or whatever his surname is) plays out, and am also quite interested in Oerba Dia Vanila, despite the fact that she seems to have a bear hanging from her ass. Other than that most of the characters revealed so far don't interest me much, at least in their designs. I'm not keen on the generic Basch-Irvine-Loz face which apparantly is mass produced in factories and stamped onto any "strong cool" characters, that they have also placed on Snow.

It looks promising though. The trailer is very good, and the story might play out ok. I'm a little worried that most of the monsters will be robotic though, which might get tedious after a while.

So I'm half and half. I'm excited because it is the first on this gen of consoles, and it does look good, but I'm not going to be surprised if it doesn't deliver what I'd like as me and Square Enix seem to be on a different page at the moment.

I can't really say FFXIII make any difference to how much I love FFs.
I still haven't finished them all and I get really excited each time I play a new FF game.
Each FF I play makes me love the series even more.

If FFXIII is released in Spring like Square Enix stated then it will be put to the test as a lot of titles have been pushed back to Q1/Q2 2010 since GamesCon yesterday making it a giant clusterfuck of games next spring, including the likes of Bioshock 2 so if it can fend off titles like that it will be a brilliant game.

But I am excited for it, the characters are attracting me to the game more than any other Final Fantasy title, I like the environments and the villains, storyline, battle system, graphics etc seem extremely solid. Though, all being said I generally like most annticipated titles, especially this year, AC2, FIFA10, PES2010, Uncharted etc. But FFXIII has got me hyped for next year :-)

I feel that thrill of excitement for this and for Versus. And I know exactly what you mean because when I first saw the first Versus trailer I actually gasped out loud. Yeah, it's been a while since that's happened for an FF game. I really liked FF12 because I'm an Ivalice nerd, but I can't say I was exactly excited for it. It had good gameplay and I loved it, but I wasn't surprised or thrilled by it.

I agree with Mercurial - I'm hyped!

hell i am excited about the new outcomes, including the ACC on blue-ray, KH3 which is soo much more exciting then the previous 2 series (i think, im not sure) and about the FF XIII i hear a lot r really excited about it and say tht it'll be totally awesome, which makes me even more excited! 8D but Square Enix likes tearsing us with the great VGs tht we wait for years to come out!

Lol...I was thrilled by FFXII ty. But each to their own...
anyway, as for FFXIII, can't say I'm jumping for joy tbh. I'm not keen on any of the characters, apart from Afro Man with Baby Chocobo, storyline doesn't thrill me as such, and the whole morphing summons things? I hated how they messed up Shiva. In RW...they gave her family members which bugged me, but, messing with her image this way in XIII? I dunno...I really don't like it. I'll probably like it a lot, I mean I hated XII at first, but I can be sure this isn't going to top my 3 fave FF's. Which are like XII, VIII and VI.

Didn't mean to insult FF12 Misty.. just meant wasn't that thrilled about it..

Can understand what you mean by the Shiva Motorbike.. it just kinda seems wrong that they make a Summon/ Esper that is a female.. into a Motorbike..

It's almost like a male-dominating kinda thing.. :/

Odin turns into Lightning's steed. Odin, the god who hung himself for 9 days to gain wisdom to protect his people, etc etc and is revered as one of the greatest Norse gods (and the Norse were known to look down on their women - poor valkyries) - he is Lightning's horse. Irony :)

With that example, I disagree with you - Shiva + motorbike + male character =/= male dominance.

As a hardcore FF fan it's hard for me to not be excited but I know square soft/enix knows how to throw one hell of a curve ball ((X-2)) and so I'm a little more cautious now a days. The only thing that is really detouring me from being really amazed with FFXIII is the names.... lightening? snow? seriously just keep them in Japanese so they sound cooler...

EDIT: Whoa! whoa! Slipnir was Odin's horse, bred when Loki made love with a horse. eight legged and faster then any land animal in Norse mythology.... and I thought Odin gave his eye for wisdom and was able to drink from the fountain of knowledge.... I'm i just confused by the statement or are we getting name's mixed up?

Final Fantasy XIII is probably the first game in the main series that hasn't gotten me excited at all, and the release of a new Final Fantasy used to get me more excited than Christmas! Final Fantasy XIII just looks so unoriginal and not interesting at all. I remember when I saw the first images from FF VIII, IX, and X. Each one looked radically different from its predecessor and that was part of what really piqued my interest in those games. FF XIII on the other hand, gives me more of a "been there, done that" kind of feeling.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if FF XIII turned out to be the game that once and for all cemented that there is no Final Fantasy without Hironobu Sakaguchi. I do hope that I'll be proven wrong though.

Sleipnir is Odin's horse, but in XIII Odin turns into Sleipnir, or at least that's what it looks like when I watch him transform. And in the mythology Odin hangs himself for 9 days at one point, to gain wisdom for the upcoming Ragnarok. I don't recall the fountain of knowledge being in Norse folklore...

EDIT: after looking it up on wiki there's no mention of him hanging himself, my childhood fails me yet again :| the fountain of knowledge you refer to is Mimir's Spring (her name is something like that).

This game isn't really making me say i want this game right now unlike versus, but to me this game seems like a backburner to me. But it won't stop me from buying the game. Its just like FFXII to me

Well I know there was a lot of indifference as far as FF12 came, we all are entitled to our own opinion but primarily it missed a mark with the majority of FF fans. Not to say we are going to wavered from not playing this game, but I mean we are hoping for more than FF12 had to offer as far as story line and character development goes. I don't speak for the masses, but I do know what I'm looking for in this game, and I hope at least they stick by it.

So far I like the majority of the characters. Serah gets a little on my nerves in the English Version, but I respect her because I know how they may use her to develop the story. I just hope it isn't another Aerith. I mean they are adjusting a lot of things in this game, and trying a lot of different things, and to be honest I'm happy about it all. FF needs fresh ideas, they have not engineered anything crafty as far as revolutionary comes since FFVII unfortunately. I still declare FFX as my favorite, but that's because of the plot and character development.

I think SE will always have a following despite the nay sayers, I've been around since the very first release of FF, and I've seen what it has evolved into. I'm very proud of Final Fantasy as a whole, and hope this game will bring out the emotion in us all.

Let's be hopeful for once, before slamming the game. Just don't get your "expectations" to high.

I agree, this game has brought my hopes back for The Final Fantasy Series I honestly lost hope for it after Crisis Core, I thought they were all going to be that way from now on :wtf: But the more I see of this game the more I believe it won't let us FF Fans down, But I'm not going to like it just because it an FF game if its sucks I rip it a new one ;))

I will always love Final Fantasy.......no matter how crappy it gets. Not saying the new ones are bad, but FFXII was just lacking something. You know, the type of excitement the older FFs had. And the character development just didn't seem to work out very well. The characters still seemed like strangers, to each other and to the player.

As for FFXIII, my hopes have risen once again. I think Square Enix is really working their asses off on this one, because from what I've seen on the trailers, the battle system just seems to flow, and I'm starting to see a powerful story with a bunch of plot twists in it, which, depending on the direction they're going, can be good or bad. I think SE will pull through and make us fans (hardcore or casual) happy. Let's just wait and hope.
