What is your guys' favorite Limit System in FF? Mine would have to be VIII. It kind of stinks having to be in critical status to use them but once you get Aura you can use them at will. I like that in some of them, you are active when using them (pressing R1 during Renzokuken and pressing button sequences for Duel) you don't just watch someone get pumped up and deal damage or heal the party. I also like the varieties and different limits that each character has. What do you guys think?

I like the system in FFX, just because you could set how your meter builds up. I always had it on slayer (I think it was called that, where it builds up as you defeat enemies) so I had an overdrive to dish out every couple of battles! With the Ultimate weapon abilities that increase the rate of build up, you're a lean mean killing machine :D

I liked the system in FF7. When you got your limit break it seemed like you did something to earn it. FF10 wasn't bad either but I mostly hate FF6 & FF8. Lets not forget the most annoying FF9 trance.

I liked the idea of 8's best. The name "limit" implies that it's something in desperation. Say it were real life, and you're pottering along grinding for a few hours, you'd be going at a nice leisurely pace, probably not exerting yourself. As a result, you'd probably not be reduced to your limit attack.

If the systems or 7, 9 or 10 are anything to go by, every 10 minutes or so, you'd say "right, now I'm mad" and unleash some Meteorain on some unsuspecting Zemzelett or something. This doesn't quite seem right to me, but perhaps you shouldn't think about things like this in real-world terms.

VIII's for me. I liked how you could just keep yourself in the yellow and use them over and over, it was esepcially useful for training on the islands closest to heaven and hell and spamming Degenerator :wacky:

FF8s was fun because it was soooo easy lol. FF10 imo the best.

FF9 the worst. Trance=very cool but never at the right time.

With you on Trance. IX's and X's were alright I guess...but I didn't get much fun out of Lulu's or Rikku's. The only one's worth playing with were Auron, Kimahri and probably...well Wakka and possibly Yuna (though Yuna's was simply instant overdrive mode). IX's was kinda crappy. Trance often came upon a pointless time, and some Trance mode's were rather poor.

VII's, meh. XII's, they were flashy, and I did kinda use them at first, but I just loved attacking enemies with just everyone in my group :P

So...I'm going for VIII's. All of them were pretty useful, though I never really played with Rinoa's...

I like FFX's limit system the best, although it's way too easy to abuse. I suppose. How many of you have made sure all the characters can use their overdrives before a boss fight?

FFIX's is awful. I often found that trance hit a few battles BEFORE the boss fight, or right before the boss died. -__- Totally lame.

I wasn't a fan of FFVIII's system, as I disliked having to weaken myself, and I found Aura to be stupidly cheap. Same with XII, I disliked having to use up all my MP, especially since I have a fondness for mages, and they need as much MP as they can get >__>

I liked FFVII's limit system, but FFX wins, because it's more varied and involves the player more, with input modes and stuff.

For me, it's definitely FFVII's. I thought the variety of limit-breaks was good and they were all very visually eye-catching, like Aries' healing wind, Cloud's Omnislash, Vincent's transformations into beasts, they all still stick in my mind. I liked FFVIII’s, but I thought they were a little unbalanced. Zell’s limit-break was overly powerful and could easily be exploited by people with quick fingers and Selphine’s and Quist’s I never found that much use for. I didn’t like IX's or XII's limits, although I have no complaints with X’s.

X's, simply cuz you use could choose to use them whenever you liked.

XII's Quickenings where pretty damned crappy, I don't like the fact that it uses all your MP - MP which is really needed for healing purposes. Plus the button mashing aspect of it kinda sucks.

I don't really like the Trances from IX either, its one of the few faults in an otherwise awesome game.
