I love to play on my Nintendo DS. Well, I am pretty new to the Final Fantasy series. My friends say XII is really good, but I have also heard that III is amazing as well. I am not sure which one to get. Just wondering some of the fantastic Final Fantasy games for Nintendo DS. All opinions are appreciated and accepted.

There's also FFIV, which is FAR superior to both of those mentioned, I DID enjoy III it is a lot of fun, but I think IV is much better as far as plot and game play is concerned, Revenet Wings is ok, it just takes some getting used to, I actually really liked the story on that - the story was abit of a slow starter though

So yeah, id go with FFIV, it's pretty challeneging too, so it should keep you entetained for a good while :wacky:

I agree that FFIV is the best choice. It's a lot of fun, and an excellent re-make. I haven't played FFIII yet, so I can't really give you a clear opinion for that one. As for RW though, it's also rather enjoyable. No-where near IV, though.

As good as XII: Revenant Wings and Tactics A2 are, they're not your traditional Final Fantasy fare (nor are the fairly mediocre Crystal Chronicles DS titles), so you're best off with IV.

IV actually has a good enough story unlike III- and its battle system is updated from the original and much more superior to III. Plus, with the occasional CGI and voice acting, this is pushing the boundaries of the DS!

Go with the original FFIV, the GBA game...but, if you really need a DS game, get FFIII/IV. I only insist on the GBA version of IV because it still has original graphics etc.

Don't get FFXII: RW. I am THE biggest XII fan here, and even I think this game is a crock of crap tbqh. If you've played FFTA and enjoyed that, get FFTA2. Great game!

The best final fantasy game on nintendo ds is Final Fantasy IV. Why? Because the gameplay is just so awesome. I love the new opening. The designs is the part I like best. The original FFIV's designs were ok but on ds they are awesome. There is also FF III which was pretty fun imo. But Luneth was someone I just could not stand XD. Never tried FF XII revenant wings because Im still playing XII.

Is the DS IV harder than the PS port? I love the challenge of the PS version. This is also reason I want to pick up III for the DS, because of the challenge.

Considerably. IV DS is the hardest version of the game released. Just about every single random battle in the Final Dungeons might as well be mini-bosses. Hell I had a more difficult time with behemoths then I did with bahamut.

I thought Ring of Fates was pretty fun.
Haven't played other FF games on DS though,
so I don't know which ones are better.

what he said, if you dont spend abit of time training in each area, you will be snookered when you move on, you get map completion bonuses so, like, if you explore every corner of the map in each area, you should be decent levels for moving on. And even then, chances are you will still struggle :wacky:

And yeah, them Behemoths STANK, they were so hard xD

It's between FFIII and FFIV really. Both are incredibly challenging games, however, I think FFIV edges it, as I've found it runs faster, and it has the superior storyline to FFIII. FFIII is a job-system game, while FFIV has most of the characters stuck in a set role, which is more typical of the FF series as a whole, and so, in my opinion, FFIV is more representative of the series as a whole.

FFTA 2 is also a really good game, but I'd advise against it if you don't like long-winded battles, or are unfamiliar with tactical games. It's definitely a fun game to play though xD

Please give reasons ffking for the choices you stated. Thank you.

I've only played FFIII and FFIV for the DS, but between those two I'd say go for IV. I found the story and characters much more interesting. I admit that FFIII bored me too quickly at the time since I was more excited to play other games so I haven't gotten far in that one to make a decent judgment, but I can attest for FFIV ^^

I still wanna get Revenant Wings, but I haven't even beaten FFXII yet and I dunno wanna be unnecessarily spoiled >_>

I'm a little interested in the Tactics games for the DS and I'm a little curious about Crystal Chronicles since the only reason why I didn't play it at the time was because I didn't have a game cube when it originally came out O.O

Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate is pretty good. The single player mode is a bit short, but the real value is in the multiplayer. If you have a friend or 2 to play it with, it's easily the most fun FF on the DS :)

Personally, I really enjoyed FFTA2. I felt it was a pretty good continuation of the Tactics line and the graphics were pretty cool. I tried XII:RW, but really did not like the graphics or gameplay, and got bored pretty quickly. I haven;t tried III or IV yet, but am hopping to really soon.

Well, I've played III and IV on an actual DS, while I've played some of Ring of Fate on an emulator. To be quite honest, they all bored me to an extent, with Ring of Fates pushing the limit. Now that could have been due to the fact that I was playing on an emulator, who knows, but for me, it's out of the race. Now between III and IV... it's a pretty close call. Now you'd think IV would have the upper hand with the graphics being up a tier along with the voice acting, but in my opinion, it's a pretty even playing field. Probably because I like being able to strategically set up my characters into different classes to help the situation at hand. That being said, I'll have to go with III, due to the fact that in IV, for the most part, their classes are set in stone.

I liked Rings of Fate, it didn't really seem as serious as other FF titles but after 3/4 hours when you just hit the twists and turns (just before the two children grow up) it really does have quite a deep story, the same could possibly be applied to Echoes of Time as well, however, I haven't played it long enough to say.

Like Mark, FFTA2 is a fantastic game, especially the battles as it requires logic rather than just going in there and trying to deal as much damage as possible, otherwise you're just going to get your arse handed to you. Revenant Wings was an alright game but sometimes the missions seemed a bit bland, I didn't like FFIII all that much and Chocobo Tales...is quite awful.

I'd most likely go for FFIV, had I played it. I've got it, just haven't played it. But based on what most other people have said then I'm going to say FFIV as well. *wanders of to play*

IV - mainly cuz of the great characters and story. Though III is really good as well.

I've played IV and Rings of fate, and I like IV better. I usually like the kind of games where you move around and fight outside of a battlescreen, like ring of fates or kingdom hearts, but IV was challenging and fun.
