For those of you who have seen the WWII miniseries, what did you think of the presentation as a whole?

I thought that it was pretty accurate, judging on the testaments of the survivors really. Even the props, the effects, they were just mindblowing --- just about as close to the battlefield as you could get.
The storyline was presented well, the drama was kept in check, meaning it wasn't too much, yet it was obviously present.
The battle scenes were just spectacular, sometimes it would go on for the whole episode and you wouldn't even notice it took that long just because it was so good.

Thoughts?
Opinions?

I dipped in and out of it when it was braodcast on TV. But then my ex got the boxset for his 19th and I watched some more of it.

Very well written and the characters were great also.

I remember this series i didnt see it all but i remember what i saw was excellent im a big fan of WW1 WW2 films so this was a great watch

Got the DVD boxset after hearing good reviews about it and noticing it had 9.6 on IMDB (I've never seen any other movie/TV series get anywhere near as close a rating as that) and just loved it. The action begins to slow down during the couple of middle episodes, but once the Battle of Bastonge begins, it shows that it is the best war TV series that has ever been made. Another excellent show from HBO.

Yeah, I gotta agree there, but I'd rate it perfect.

The part I loved the best was the battle scenes, so carefully done, and so detailed, down to the last bit of war materiel. It's especially dramatic because of its sheer realism, people dying everywhere and whatnot, main guys dropping off like flies, it's just overwhelming.
