backtracking temples

i need to redo some cloisters to get anima... but i tried going to besaid and some guy came out with dark valefor... is there anyway to get past this or am i fucked? and i'm not gonna level for hours on end.

Well yeh you can get past him by beating him.
It may take a while but you have to do it, also if you missed the item in Bevelle's temple then you ARE fucked as you can't go back there.

It's possible. I did it. It'll be harder I guess, but I managed to do it, and I wouldn't say I levelled up a lot to do it either.

But yeah, if u just want to complete the game, my advice would be to leave Anima now... It will cost not just an arm and a leg, but an arm and leg from EVERYBODY you love and care about for you to manage to get to beat even the weakest dark aeon (Valefor)... It depends how much you feel is worth it.

Eh you don't need them, if you arent planning on doing much optional shit like the dark aeons or some monster arena shizz then youwont really need them

Dark Valefor has about 800,000hp I think, easy if you max out your stats, I think I did it once I learned auto life, I strugged alot though because I just wanted toget back into Besaid. Soif you cba training just go back later

It's the same with Macalania temple; a guado will summon Dark Shiva.
Easy method: Pay huge and taxing amounts of gil to Yojimbo to get him to use Zanmato.
Hard method: Max out your stats, learn auto-life, and kill them that way, though DON'T try this method with Dark Shiva unless your speed is maxed because she can attack three times before you have the chance to even attack. or summon.

If you want it to be quick, save at the nearest sphere and in battle pay Yojimbo 100,000 gil to use Zanmato (I tried paying 1 gil, 10 gil, 100 gil and 1000 gil many many times. 100,000 gil was the amount I eventually paid to have Zanmato). But I think that you can pay him any amount and randomly he will Zanmato Valefor.

If you have to do Shiva aswel, and cba paying Yojimbo, then Id just give up and either start again, or jsut carry on as you are. Shiva is much more tricky to beat, especially as ther little cow is VERY fasy as mentioned above

Dark Aeon's are a bitch.

But you must fight them if you want Anima. Me I just got the treasures when I was already there.
Just gather up some money and use Zanamato (sp?).
I did that with all my Dark Aeons.

If you want Anima, you'd have to fight Geosgaeno anyway, which requires a fair amount of levelling. You certainly don't need to max your stats to beat Dark Valefor: I hadn't got close to maxing them and I managed to beat him on the third attempt. I also managed to beat Shiva on the fifth or sixth try, again without maxed stats, but a certain amount of levelling was certainly needed. The Omega Ruins was the best place for that - or the Don Tonberry trick, but that takes a while to set up.
