Awards/medals--What is the meaning of this mockery?

2 Questions.

1: What are the medals/awards seen on some members at the lower left of their posts?

2: How are these medals/awards given?

And yes, in case if you were wondering, it HAS been nagging at me for some time. Why? Because I don't know what the darn things mean. That's why!

These medals are a simple token given to members in order to reward people in general for any achievements being made in forum activities such as GFX, Role Playing and RPG Tournaments, Art Competitions, Writing Contests, etc.

 

[Gingerbread Lesbian]

The medals on the bottom of people's posts are just there to show people how many they've got, so if you hover over them it says what they're for and if you click them it takes you to the medal bit in their profile...I think.

As for winning them, if you click on the awards bit in the little bar above it tells you how to get them in the description. Hope that helps.
