Anyone else surprised by the ending?

So was anyone else surprised by the ending? I did not see
Balthier and Ashe getting married
. And I kind of saw
Vaan and Penelo hooking up
but I still wasn't sure and was a little surprised. It just made me mad because I felt like they just left a lot of character interaction out of the game that I so very much enjoyed from other Final Fantasies.

Anyone else feel the same way? Anyone feel different?

I agree

In all other FF's there was at least one love story between characters. In some there were as many as 3 or 4 different love stories between characters that affected the storyline of the game. They definitely left out of FFXII what was a key part in other FF's.

I really was shocked that the ending did not go more in depth with the interaction between characters.

Maybe..this wasn't the game where character interaction was like, supposed to be a main focus?

As for a love story..you don't really need one to make a successful FF. You just need a good storyline in general. This story focused a lot more on important things, hence you didn't see a proper love story as such in VII, IX.

To me character interaction seems like..being able to work together, talk together. From what I have seen so far..there is a fair bit of that. Ok, not with Ashe.

If there are other interpretations let me know o.o

I agree that they don't really need a love story to make the game work, but I just felt like that came out of left field. I was also sad to see all of the characters split up and go separate ways... they made such a good team :( I don't remember real well, but did they even mention Fran in the ending? I kind of thought Fran and Balthier had a little thing going until the end of the game...

^ Sure it was. If they keep making retarded things happen like having more summons morph into vehicles, I won't bother with XIII. I'm guessing you imported the game seeing as you came from London?

I was very dissapointed that there wasn't a love story involved as part of the main storyline. But hey, that could just be the hopeless romantic in me. I still loved XII, but it would have been just that much better to me.

no. i disagree. i rejoiced when i found out there was no love story in 12. ah, finally, a final fantasy that isn't garbled with mushy cut scenes. no thanks. i'm in it for the story, not "character interaction", or "crazy love trianglex2", or whatever. i felt very satisfied with 12.

But there was a love story in 12, they just didn't tell you about it until the very end. That's what made me mad. Either put it in the story or leave it out; don't put some random love sequence in the final movie that had no foundation in the story whatsoever. Grrr... Thinking about that ending gets me fired up every time :D

Was the love story by any chance..

BaschxVossler? =P *BaschpossiblyreflectingonhispastloveforVossler. OrmaybeBalthier? :O

good guess! ;)
Ive played final fantasy 8, 10, 10-2, and 12.

Love story in 8 was good, but towards the end become to much...

In 10...it was perfect....10 was the best for action, story, and love in my oppinion.

10-2 was dumb, but it just showed that a lot of people wanted to see the two main characters get back together...i mean, that was sort of the goal of ffx-2 wasnt it....to be this girl while she looks for her man?

Personally though, even though FFXII was amazing ( i just beat the game ) i dont think there was enough character info. With number 8 and 10...you almost become your characters. You know their train of thought. You know their attitude on everything. And the character interactions are better because...EMOTION. thats it, ive been trying to put my finger on it.

FFXII lacks emotion.

The whole time i was playing it, i was trying to get to the end, i just wanted to beat it. But with 8 and 10...i didnt want the story to end.

Holy shit! I never saw that coming.... That makes me sad that I read the spoiler tags T_T

Well put indeed.

I was surprised and disappointed with the ending. IMO, the game left a lot of loose ends that I was hoping would be tied up with a grand ending, but no such luck. :( For me, it was incomplete and abrupt.

The lack of character interaction was a huge source of disappointment. As a matter of fact, not only did the game lack in character interaction, I felt it seriously lacked in any chemistry between the characters. I guess I'm one of those people who wanted to see a little element of love thrown into the story and not that it had to be overly sappy, but a well done element of love.

In summary, I loved this game through most of the game play, from the voice acting, to the mature story line and graphics. In fact, it was starting to become my all-time favorite FF. However, I felt the ending was so badly done, it completely turned me off. I've loved all of the FF to date, but this was the first one that completely disappointed me in the end.

Now don't get me wrong, this was a great game, but dammit Square-Enix, you had an excellent chance to nail this one.

Poetry to my ears; that's exactly how I feel. During the credits, I kept mumbling to myself, "There better be something else after the credits." Then I sat watching "The End" sit on my screen for 10 minutes waiting for a better ending... Then I turned the game off and sat another 10 minutes in shock that they did that.

Lol... Yeah, I did the same thing. I sat through the credits and watched "The End" on my screen long enough not to let it burn in Lol... and said... What! That's it!!!

Actually, since there was a lot left open in the end and without going into a bunch of spoilers, Square-Enix definitely has enough material to make an excellent direct sequel and not the RW DS Sequel/Prequel which has me disappointed as well. I'd like to see real sequel on a real console.

For now, I'll just keep hoping. :)

It almost seemed like they wanted to put something after Bahamut but they either ran out of time or space, so they wrapped it up. It definitely felt incomplete and there was a lack of emotion from the entire game.

the game was not good in emotions and the storyline but overall was very good
