I'm attempting to a "Perfect Game" playthrough of this game, I thought I might as well since i've already finished it a billion times before regularly, so thought i'd try for something different. It can be a pain sometimes especially when I had to buy 99 Iron Bangles, which cost aroun 160 and I was getting like 20 gil each battle so yeah that took a LONG time, the requirements for a perfect game seem very time consuming, quite pointless, but it's just something I want to do so I can say i've done it.

I'm just wondering, has anyone else done a perfect game? If so, share your experiences.

Just about - like every time, I got right up to the point where I wanted to train for Ruby and Emerald but it fell through, recently. The chocobo racing was all fine, the other sidequests were bearable but the thought of going to the bottom of the Northern Crater, training for days to master half of my Materia, marching up and fighting Ruby and Emerald with strategies that make you invincible was just a bit fruitless, I thought. Why waste so much time to do something that really got me nowhere? I mean, for beating Ruby, don't you just earn a fucking Gold Chocobo?

No fanx

You don't have to train THAT much to kill Ruby, but put it this way - Mime and Knights of the Round Table are your best friends for all the Weapon bosses.

I've thought about doing this, with all of my rpgs. Create one file that you do everything in the game with and always keep it. It's mainly a pride thing, looking at your memory card with all these maxed out games on it, feels like you've accomplished something.

....Then my sense of boredom kicks in and I quit, everytime. I don't collect max amounts of items though, that's just too insane, especially with stuff like iron bangles and all that. But all sidequests and bosses downed, extra characters and whatnot.

I have about 15 rpg's for the ps1 to do this with, and I will someday.:gasp:

peice of piss using the magic pot trick, you're materia will master at the speed of light, and you will level up just as fast as well

It's probably the easiest game to complete 100% with minimum effort

Though, before I knew of said magic pot trick, training was just a chore and a half int he crashed gelnika, boring boring boring

Though, I DO like to train in general... to a certain point

Cheap but effective :dave:

i'm currently working on a "perfect game for all of the FF games i have"

so far in VII i have got all the master materia finished for 3 carachters except red (want all carachters to have master materia), i still need to defeat the emerald and ruby weapons and get to level 99 for all my carachters, i have everyones ultimate weapons and what not, but thats about it. this is on My PS1 memory card i have since bought VII, VIII and IX on PSN so currently working through them. :yay:

I have 1 of every item, even some that arn't in the brandy games guide. Some I got more then 1 of. I got 1 of every materia and 8 master magics, 16 master commands, 8 master summons. Plus I got 5 of my characters (the ones I use, Cloud, Cid, Yuffie, Barret, Tifa) with 255 stats. That's a lot of training in that sunken ship. Everyone has 255 speed and luck but the hardest stat for me to max was spirit. I got (on a new file) 4 mastered enemy skills. Back to the old though I got one of each type of chocobo, Yellow, Blue, Green, Black, and Gold.

There's a lot of stuff you can do for a perfect game, but instead of trying to buy 99 iron bangles you should only go for 8 or 9 since that's how many characters you can have. Any more is pointless and it will still take a lot of money to get one for each character.

It's interesting to see what you all have to say regarding this subject, many people do consider it very pointless, but I think it is a pride thing for me, and I just want to do it. I will definitely make a video and post some pictures of the save when i'm done.

I'm currently at Junon. Long journey ahead.....

The Vagyrisk Claws seem REALLY annoying to get 99 of, yay for W-Item.

I just did this with FFVII a few months ago. It took me over 70 hours, it was really fun playing it again after so many years. It's not pointless, you're getting actual things... And you also go into it with a strategy for rotating characters enough to level them up efficiently so you're not playing it forever. It's fun! But I really do think shooting for a effect game works in your favor if it's a bit of an "OCD" kind of thing, for me anyway.
I don't think you need 99 of every item to call it a perfect game however. I have never heard of that being a factor. That's just unnecessary!
It's up to you what makes a perfect game. I mean really, do what makes you happy and what you want to do, don't do it to tell people you did (as you mentioned the pride thing)

I have had a perfect game. considering that this is my favorite game. Is it worth it? no not at all . by perfect game I have like 2 Master Materia of each as well as letters in my money all items 99 that I could get. (U can't have 99 Ultimate Weapons) also all the Gold Saucer games done pretty much everything. As well as all Materia Mastered. ( I had multiple of so many I ran out of Materia space)
