a sequel has been confirmed by ron burgundy himself:

Rumours have been rife for a while now that there would be a sequel to Anchorman and director Adam McKay took to his Twitter to reassure fans that it would definitely be happening.

He tweeted: 'A few people questioning if Anchorman 2 is 100% for sure happening. Let me assure and assuage: it is. We're writing now and we shoot in Feb.'

I for one, am pretty excited! Even though it's taken quite a few years in order to get together and off the ground. Quite awesome how Anchorman was on last night on TV :D

i just saw this an hour ago on tv. i love how he promos his movies. anchorman was alright.. but from the way he is pushing the sequal.. i hope it blows the first one away.
best part of that promo is how he rips into conan o'brien

This news has taken me to PleasureTown. Oh we're going there.

Very exciting. Hopefully the sequel does the original justice.

I am not excited for this at all.
I love anchorman so much and I don't think it needs a sequel. It could turn out good, who knows but I am not going to hold my breath on it.

No he is not playing the flute and yes, the sequel will be good, as is all of his films. :inlove: I can't wait. I thought the first one was hilarious so this one should be good as well. :ryan:

i don't imagine it being anywhere near as hilarious as the original. there are very few, if any, quality comedy film franchises past monty python. anchorman didn't really lend itself to a sequel either, it's not like there can be any continuation of the story. that might work in the film's favour though.

i'm glad they aren't rushing into it though. they've got the best part of a year in pre-production before they start shooting, so plenty of time to get a brilliant script down. my biggest worry is that will ferrel hasn't done a really good film since talladega nights.

^ Saying that though, I thought 'Everything Must Go' was a really good movie. It wasn't his usual comedy movie, but just a general film about a guy who's lost it all, and all in one day. You just feel sorry for the guy, tries to get his life back on track. Really well done. I was quite surprised, not many comedic actors I've seen do well in serious roles. Jim Carrey for example, didn't think he would be good in anything but comedies... kinda wrong with that.

I loved the first Anchorman; loved it in the cinema, and loved it the 2349th time I watched it on DVD, so it's pretty obvious I will be seeing this when it hits cinemas.

I had an arguement recently with a mate claiming Zoolander was better. Ugh. xD
