it was well paced and well balanced. the characters all got a fair amount of screen time, even the smaller background ones and they contributed well to the progression of the story. it wasn't too serious, while not making a mockery of itself or its source material at the same time, and it lived up to the four year build up. it was also superbly directed, and joss whedon really managed to make it his own film without betraying what it was supposed to be
