Alright will Dissidia have more characters or is that the full cast?

It would be a little strange to announce the existance of a secret character. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose?

I don't play FFXI, so does anyone know would be the most likely villain counterpart if there was one?

I'd say the Shadow Lord. He is the main villain for people starting off in FF11 (when I used to play, it was his name that was feared across the world).
With new expansions etc things may have changed now, and I don't know who the other villains are. I didn't even know who Shantotto was until today.

Well they had to choose Jecht really, as they had to choose someone with a connection to Tidus. Since Seymour was more connected with Yuna than Tidus, they picked Jecht who had unsolved issues with his son.
Also they said in an interview at some point that they will give Jecht reason for joining the side of Chaos, as you are right, he isn't truly evil.

Maybe we could have the judges from xii as some villians in this game or even Yunaslesca. Lets hope that more villians get revealed or some good characters like Rydia or Rinoa or even Rosa.

I must say, I'm more a fan of Amano than I am Nomura. But I must say that Nomura has done a GREAT job with the Dissidia artwork... Keeping the heart of Amano's designs (even the crazy zebra style bits are all there) and producing (as he always does) very standardised pictures of characters that had only been shown through crazy, but beautiful, designs of Amano.

Hmmm.. But yeah. Heres to wondering whether Shantotto is secret, or if she is just another character. Does sort of beat the point of "secret characters", but more like an extra character. I can't wait to see the Dissidia artwork for her as well.

Agreed, on the whole I prefer Amano's artwork to Nomura. Better artistic representation, and I just like his style. Nomura's art DOES suit the more sci-fi/steampunk titles (ff7, ff8) but his designs have gotten a little weird after FFX. He's starting to "overdo it" imo.


this is getting a little OT so to relay back to the topic... I kind of get the feeling that they're going to introduce an FFXI villain along with an FFXII (non-secret) duo. I think that's the only way to explain the tagline "there are 12 worlds... and the 13th is soon to be revealed" (paraphrased).

Who knows, maybe Lightening and Noctis WILL be secret characters?

I love Nomura's style just because he is amazing!
and i also love Amano's style for being different than all the other japanese designers at the time.

There both very good art designers so I do not know which one is better. well Tetsuya Nomura designed most of the characters so I guess Tetsuya.

Ahem! I'd very much like to contest that statement! To avoid this topic falling into the pit of fail I'll create a thread (or look for one already existing) on Amano vs Nomura. Coz I want to show you that you are so wrong!

Perhaps a tactics pair may be included... But I'd much prefer some more characters from games already confirmed... Though I think they may be somewhat less likely.

Theres always more characters we'd want added, and ultimately we can't have them all. But what we have already is enough to cause a fit of excitement in anybody who really loves FF.. Anything else would be bonus! Hell... If they ever announce that Ultros is to be in the game, I'll practically go into a coma!

If they were to include FF12 characters then I'd much prefer Balthier too. He was funnier, had a greater personality and general attitude than anyone else in that game.

I never understood what the fuss with Basch was all about, I didn't get to know why he was so special. He was ok, I'm not dissing him, but I feel it would be a waste if he was made a playable character in this game.. Even if Gabranth was made the FF12 villain...

I never got the hype over Basch either. He was just as much a stereotype as Vaan was, yet Vaan seems to get all the flack. Honestly, I think if he were the main character of FF12, the game would seem more cliche. Many people tend to like Basch's type of character (think Auron, Vincent, Amarant, Shadow, Kain) but I usually find them incredibley bland until they do something that sets them apart, which imo Basch did not do.


So..... if they were to introduce a FFXII lead, I think Ashe would probably the most logical choice. Not only is she the character most involved in the main plot of the game, it would diversify the cast a but more by adding another female.

To be honest when I first saw Basch he immediately reminded me of this damned person who I curse and despise with all my might.

I'd prefer Balthier over anyone, as he was the character in that game with the most dynamic personality, but I think the most logical choice would be Ashe for reasons I stated above.



(and if you don't know who that person is, it's Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback)

If they were to bring in a tactics pair it would more likely be ramza and delitia or ramza and gafgarion, I highly doubt any of the other characters would get a look in except for maybe orlandu but everyone saw him as an insanley overpowered character so chances are, if they put FFT pairings in there wont put anyone else in other than these 3.
