Don't sure if put it here or FFX-2, but I think it doesn't really matter.

As I was playing FFX-2, I asked myself two questions:

1) Are all Al Bhed blond haired?

2) Are all blond haired people in spira are Al Bhed?

I asked that because I never seen a non blond-haired Al Bhed, as well as a blond haired man/woman who isn't Al Bhed.

Tidus is blond haired, but he lived in a different era in which Al Bhed didn't exist. So I don't think that counts.

Yuna is only half Al Bhed, so she doesn't have to be blond haired...
I guess...

Wakka didn't realize Rikku is an Al Bhed even though she is blond haired.
But still Wakka is just... Wakka... you know what I mean.

So what do you think?

This is a good question and it's one I've asked myself a lot.

All the Al Bhed we see ARE blonde haired and green eyed.

I do remember seeing a couple of people somewhere that were blonde haired but weren't Al Bhed. I just can't remember where.

Also, Buddy. I'm not sure if he has blonde hair as it's shaven right back but it looks to be either blonde or white possibly.

I think maybe it's just Al Bhed genetics. I love their eyes though.

I think that most Al Bhed are blonde hair + green eyes. I say most. Yuna is half Al Bhed and she definitely has brown hair. She DOES have one green eye though. Also, not all blond haired characters in FFX are Al Bhed.

All Al Bhed have green eyes and are blonde. Not all blondes with green eyes are Al Bhed though. Only green eyes with swirls in them.
If there's a blonde wearing goggles, they're Al Bhed :gasp:

Yuna's half Al Bhed, she has brown hair from her father and one green eye (although neither eye has a swirl) from her Al Bhed mother.
Wakka thinking Rikku was Al Bhed straight away would be like him thinking Tidus was. Auron had to make sure her eyes had swirls in them so he knew she was Al Bhed. ;O

Hope that helps :3

Hmmm, well I've never seen a person with blonde hair that wasn't an Al Bhed and the green eyes have to have a squiggle in them so there are people with plain green eyes. I think those features are unique to that... race?
Anyway, if you haven't seen a pink sheep does that mean the don't exist? :D There could be some Al Bhed with brown hair and blue squiggly eyes hiding in cave somewhere... >__>

It was probably Square's way of denoting the race. Most Indian people all have very dark brown/black hair and brown eyes, and most African people have black hair and dark brown eyes. Al Bhed (a fantasy race) all having blonde hair and green eyes is then not that unbelievable. The Guados also seem to lean towards blue-ish-green hair and blue eyes as well. The Al Bhed are not the only blonde people in Spira which is why most of them wear goggles (I think) to hide the swirls in their eyes from conservative Yevonites. An exception is Rin, but he doesn't give a !@#$ :p

All the Al Bhed are blond -- except possibly Cid, oddly enough, who seems to have a dark beard. Here are screencaps of FFX's NPCs, collected by yours truly, who has no life.

Spira's Al Bhed remind me of how classical Greeks, all dark-haired, considered the Macedonians "heathen barbarians who aren't really Greek".

AHA!

Thought so. Jassu is blond. And I have a hunch he may have some Al Bhed blood himself, because of this obscure bit of optional dialog:

Jassu: I already knew about Yuna's lineage. I just kept my mouth shut in front of Wakka.

Other than Jassu, all Yevonites are dark-haired, although there are a few honey or brown haired folks.

Tidus is odd. Close-ups show dark roots, and it's even more obvious in playarts figures. I think he's supposed to be bleached blond.

Wakka's obliviousness would seem to be a plot hole, except that Wakka reminds me of my Dad.

My Dad who didn't notice when I showed up at the dinner table with my hair 12 inches shorter, wearing a silver lamé top. After I asked if he'd noticed anything, he said, "Are those new glasses?"

There's a great fanfic from Lulu's POV which has her thinking something like, Really, Wakka. You've looked into the girl's eyes at least a dozen times today, and you still haven't noticed!

I never noticed the blond trend among Al Bhed. But now that I think about it and I look at the pics and read the posts on here, I believe it's true. But there are non-Al Bhed blondes. So blond hair isn't just an Al Bhed thing.

Are there any non-Al Bhed blonds besides Jassu?
He seems like an anomaly.

(I'm not sure Tidus counts; his hair is black, bleached blond, and he's not exactly from Spira.)
