It got me thinking, which of the airships in the FF series can legitimately be called 'airships'?
The early games in the series depicted airships with a sea ship body and propellers, literally an 'air-ship', that floated off the ocean into the air, as Cid's airship did in FFIII. The Nautilus from the same game fits the Wiki description very well, as does the Blackjack and the Falcon from VI.
The Ragnarok and Lunar Whale are clearly 'spaceships' and by the time the series reached X and beyond the airships had taken on a distinctly more high-tech, 'aircraft'-like appearance as opposed to the traditional appearance of the airship. I can understand why they continued calling them 'airships' (series continuity and such) but I don't consider the ships from X and on to be proper airships at all, and I prefer the look of the old airships to the hulking masses that appeared in XII and XIII - they had a lot more character!
