Airship Speeds

Hi guys.

All final fantasies have Airships... pretty much. But all the speeds at which they travel are different. FF8's travel so sloow compared to 9's. But 7's are faster???

why is that? Did they experiment with the speeds etc? what do you think?

probably because the Highwind get's 'Upgraded' by cid and made faster and the flames change colour. The fastest airship is definitely the Falcon from FF6, it can probably make it around the world in about 7 seconds and it is even called by Setzer as the 'Fastest airship in the world.'

Anyway i imagine the Ragnarok in 8 is slower then others because it has Squall and Laguna inside, which means, because there is that much awesomeness in it it has to try and balance it out by making itself slow. So people aren't like "WOW IT HAS SQUALL AND LAGUNA IN IT AND IT'S FAST!!!! BEST AIRSHIP EVA!!!!" Another reason might be because Selphie is the pilot.

I've noticed this in Final Fantasy IV as well. Now, I don't know if it's just an illusion though, since the Lunar Whale flies higher up than the Enterprise or the Falcon.
