Kenpachi
11th Squad Captain
Our world is not alone. There lies, right alongside ours, a world where animal and human live in harmony, or almost. A small turn in the evolutionary pattern millions, e'en billions of years in the past has, rather than splitting animals and humans as two 'distinct' types, fused them together.
These fusions have resulted in a race of humanoids that have altered appearances to regular humans. For example, lion-people are covered in a fine coating of orange hair and have mane-like hair. They have claws and fangs and tails, much like lions, yet walk on two legs and are like humans in most, if not all, other respects; physically at least. Also, these physical characteristics vary from only having claws, to basically being walking lions.
These changes are different for each species of animal, and their are more on Aerth than their are here as extinctions are rare, for their are always a small tribe of one animal or another. Also, crossbreeding is not uncommon, resulting in some strange combinations, like Wolf-Mantis'.
Geographically, the world on Aerth (as it is known there) is basically one very large landmass, with a few smaller islands and islets around the landmass. Whilst Aerth and Earth are the same planetary size, and the rest of the solar system is the same, Aerth never seperated into numerous continents for unknown reasons.
This landmass however, is still divided up into five 'countries', each of which has varying amounts of land and climates within. Each of the different 'types' of animal (Insectoids (inc. Arachnids etc.), Birds, Reptiles, Mammals and Fish (inc. Cephalapods etc.) have an area, a 'country', and are at war with each other. Currently, the Mammal and Bird kingdoms are allied, the Insect and Reptile kingdoms are allied and the Fish kingdom is neutral to all.The capital city of each 'country' is as follows:
Mammals--Aybara
Birds--Faile
Insects--Troquol
Reptiles--Ysith
Fish--Cauthon
Oddly enough, magic exists on this Aerth, species specific (so only some crossbreeds can use two types, but are weaker in both than purebreeds unless they are close enough alike (E.g./ Lion-Panther)). Birds specialise in Wind magic, Insects in Earth, Fish in Water, Reptiles in Lightning and Mammals in Fire. One of the weirdest things is that the humanoids on Aerth have discovered the ability to create portals between worlds, in which they can shift their shapes. They can move from full-human, half-human/animal and full-animal forms.
When an Aerthan has achieved certain goals, differing from Aerthan to Aerthan yet all very very difficult to obtain, they may 'transcend' their regular animal-human form. When an Aerthan transcends, their animal form melts away, and they take on a new animal-human form. This new form is of a 'mythical' creature, one that is similar to what they were (E.g./ Wolf --> Fenrir, Hornyback Lizard --> Dragon etc.) and is then coupled with a human-like form. These 'Mythical Aerthans' are extremely rare and are often killed for being mythical by those who are not. However, they are very powerful as well, and all Aerthans (in theory) have the potential to become one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the beginning, this is how you will start, as a person on Earth, and an Aerthan will move you across. Each person chosen is part of a complex prophecy known as the Orethean Cycle. No one Aerthan knows what all of those involved in this cycle will choose their path, but they will be the catalysts to change the way life on Aerth is forever.
Now, each person is going to have to choose which animal they will be. They will change as soon they enter Aerth, undergoing a transformation and becoming their half-animal selves. Weapons and such will be given/found on/in Aerth, so you don't start with them, you will be given them.
