So I just recently started playing FF8 again after about 10 years, and one thing is really bothering me. Both the active and wait settings for battle are active.. I'm playing the PS1 disk on my PS3. Regardless of what setting I use, enemies will continue to attack me. Anyone else have this problem?

Actually if you click X and are trying to decide what item's to use, or what GF to use or what enemy to attack etc... It should wait for you to decide! 
If you are on the first menu still deciding what to do/ use without hitting X then it will continue... It is still the ATB system after all.
