I would like to know if you are able to catch and keep and ride Chocobos of your own or if you could have your own Chocobo Farm in FFXII before i buy this game. Any clues as to if you can keep Chocobos?

Hmmm...wow. I completed teh game back in December, and from what I remember, you sort of rent them against similar to FFX's gameplay. You HAVE to use one at like 2 spots in the game to get to certain areas (Example: Exodus Esper sidequest), but otherwise, you can rent them, or fight them on the battle field when you run into them as enemies.

My question is if you are able to keep them if you have your own Chocobo Farm and catch them if you run into them in battle.

Nah, you can't. There are no Chocobo farms. There are a few individual towns that have Chocobo's being rasied, but they are mainly for sleeing to ride. The one's you run into in battle are only fightable, not catchable.

Wow, this is a letdown. To think, I was actually wanting to have to fight one and catch it. Still, (**semispoiler ahead**) it's funny that the highest leveled enemy is a level 99 Chocobo xD, however weak it is compared to other major side bosses.

i would agree with you Gatekpr as they should have allowed us to fight and catch your own Chocobos as well as having your own Chocobo Farm for keeping Chocobos
yeah that would have been cool, but then you'd miss out on all the exp when traveling between areas.
Has anyone seen that lvl99 Chocobo? It's one of the few things in the game that gives you a Ribbon... but man it's a pain. Apparently you have to clear everything out of the one area right outside of the Garif's villiage, walk out of the area, walk back into the area, and then there is like a 1 in 100 chance of seeing it or something ridiculous like that.

It is insane, but yeah, no luck here either. Even if it didn't drop a ribbon, Id just like to put up a fight against one to see what it would be like in battle.

No it's jsut a very rare creature that you can stumble across on the Ozmone PLains by the Gariff Village and...one other place there. It's a rare enemy to encounter, but it is not classified as "Rare Game" for any of the sidequests. It just takes forever to encounter and make appear, and of course it drops a Ribbon occasionally if the Canopic Jar doesn't screw you over (points and laughs at Aztec).
No, it's a rare monster. It's "unrecorded" meaning that you won't get a trophy for it and it'll show up more than once. You can technically do it at any point in the game, but you don't have much chance at defeating it until you're higher levels. It's just a pain in the ass to get it to show up. I couldn't find how rare... Busta should have the figures because he's a cheater and has a copy of BradyGames walkthrough.

I like it because you can fight Chocobos (and not the catch them either>). Also what is with this Lv99 Chocobo I keep hearing about?
I wish you could have caught the chocobos. Even if it didn't give you anything... I would've liked to have done it just for fun. Also, if you want to know about the lvl99 red chocobo, try reading the top posts on the page.
