Can FF7 be played and saved on a PS2 , I know it can be played and have tried to save it with a ps1 memory card, but it wasnt official and told me NO ... lol ... do i need an official ps1 card or should i be re-investing in a ps1 ?

You can play the FF7 disc in the PS2, but you have to save it on a PS1 memory card, that's all. ^_^

ps2 memory cards only work with ps2 games although you can create a backup file on your ps2 memory card by copying the data but you still cant load from it
ps1 memory cards are the only way

Maybe you need a new PS1 memory card? I know of some people who had the same problem. I never had a problem with mine. I play PS1 games on my PS2, using a PS1 memory card. Works like magic. :)

Try using a new PS1 memory card. If it still doesn't work, then get a new PS1. =/ It should be cheap.

i'll get a new one guys thx :D ... god its nice to be on a helpful forum :D .. you all rock !!

hehe it's a friendly forum this is :). Great people who answer all the burning questions without sarcasm :)

i dont use an offcial PS1 MC with my ps2 to save FFVII

so tht shouldnt be the problem, unless your NTSC and not PAL as that may be different

the only different between NTSC and PAL is the screen resolution output by the video card. All the accesories are the same. To prove that point my friend has a Japanese PS2 imported before the English release and it reads english memory cards fine.

Actually, like Mitsuki said, you really may need a new memory card.

I remember a long time ago, I kept my memory card placed on top of my stereo, and all of my files were mysteriously wiped. I think it has something to do with magnetic interference or something, but it IS possible! O_O

thank goodness i didn't throw away my PS1 memory card:D i thought it would end up useless since i bought a PS2:D

Well i now have a ps1 mc and have managed to get a save so I can now continue playing this when I get bored with FF10 and DOC lol

On this note, I recently put my PS2 memory card in my PS2, but it didn't even register. I thought I just needed to push it in harder or clean it, so i did. It still said that there was no memory. I also tried it in a friend's PS2 but nothing.

This was really upsettin for me because it is the only memory card I've used since I got my PS2. I have saves in there that date back to 01-02, including a Final Fantasy X save that had 450 hours of gameplay on it.

Can somebody tell what might've happened, and if the memories are still salvageble.

And UltimaNatus, sorry to bust in on your thread like this, but I figured that there's really no point in opening two threads about the same problem.

lol i think your question has been answered, but I played my FFVII game as well as all my other FF games on my PS2 and saved it with the official PS1 Sony memory card. I still ahve them all saved to my one card, it shouldn't be a prob for you.
