A Scottish Ship?

I was having a good old look at some videos on Youtube from the obvious Final Fantasy category. I happened to stumble upon the following video, in which I noticed something interesting.

Look at that ship - it's footage from Final Fantasy IX, when Beatrix and the rest of the Alexandrian Fleet come to the Lifa Tree. As far as I remember, this is the Red Rose.

Now, look more closely at the flag. It looks strangely similar to the Scottish Flag.

Hmm, interesting. I'm sure they are aware of it being similar to the Scottish flag. Whether it was intentional or not, however, I have no clue. I'm trying to google about the topic but...to no avail.

It does somewhat resemble the flag of St Andrew that Scotland has, but it's probably just chosen for being s simple design.

Mind you in the English translation, the inhabitants of Conde Petie speak with Scottish accents, maybe it's not just a coincidence XD

I'm sure there was nothing behind it, as for the conde petit folk there were no flags or scottish emblems of any sort there so i don't think that connection. I'd have to agree that it is just a coinsidence.
