a good RPG or RPG series other than FF?

Legend of Dragoon was surprisingly fun. If you get tired of hitting attack over and over again, you gotta actually press buttons for combos lol. And, so far, a decent story (on begenning of Disc 4, nobody spoil anything lol)
 
Vagrant Story is another RPG also made by Square for the PS1. I haven't played it very long, because I just got it (thank god for roms and emulators!) but back when it came out there were a lot of good reviews for this game I believe. And from what I've played so far, I doubt that it'll be bad.

Golden Sun for ticking all of the typical JRPG boxes but still being like twice as much fun as most Final Fantasy games.

The Paper Mario and Mario + Luigi titles are well worth a shot, nice twists to the genre with more fun battle systems and some damn fine humour to boot.

For more old school go for Breath of Fire I-III, widely considered to be great.

I would suggest if possible getting the Dreamcast version of Skies of Arcadia as the Gamecube version while having more to it and has some things that the DC version can no longer get it has a weaker soundtrack.
