Behold, the newly imagined Gridania.

As one of the main city-states prominent in the world of Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has decided to have us take a look at the updated version in their second alpha demo video entry.

The video takes viewers on a nearly 5 minute tour of the newly revamped Gridania – which, for those unfamiliar, is a heavily forested area. The city-state has not just been updated with new textures and assets, but also a refurbished aetheryte plaza and the addition of delivery moogles. The team also saw fit to bring more life to the world by adding babbling brooks, lush foliage, and fleshing out the populace among other things. You’ll also notice unique landmarks scattered about as you explore the land.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently enjoying its alpha phase in Japan, with other territories expected to open up soon.

This sounds like great news everyone! It looks like the alpha test is going pretty well~ :chocochan:
 
Those are some major improvements! All of a sudden I'm really hoping I'll be able to get in on a beta or something, even though I don't usually play MMO's. This game just has way more of a true Final Fantasy feel than the last couple console games (as much as I do enjoy them).
 
Yeah, I also felt that FFXI remained true to the Final Fantasy series despite being an online game. Looks like FFXIV is doing just the same.

I'm pretty impressed with the graphic improvements as well. I'm just hoping that the loading times are as great as the graphics this time around, and it should be with the PS3. I guess we'll know for sure when the beta is going on and different regions (besides Japan) are getting tested! :3

Hopefully you or @HolyDragoon will be able to get involved in the beta so we can get an FFF insider's perspective on it! :p
