I didn't really know if I should've put this in the xiii or ix section but anyways does anyone think that XIII-2 is trying to become the new IX this is an assumption because lightnings new outfit looks like its from the same era and its also doing the same thing ix does with clothes get a modern outfit and 1799 it up

Moving this to the FFXIII section as FFXIII-2 is the main focal point of the thread (and we haven't got a subforum for FFXIII-2 yet).
Basically what Draklor said. If anything, Lightning's new outfit has been taken from the Valkyrie Profile games and revamped to give her a generic Valkyrie-like look, while Serah's new wardrobe appears to have been taken from FFIV: The After Years. Can we also practically say that the game is trying to be like the above two games based on their getups? If they were trying to emulate this sort of wardrobe style, I honestly don't think that it's a nod to FFIX or an attempt to make FFXIII-2 anything like FFIX. If they wanted to do that, they would be including things from an actual world map to somehow adopting a similar art style to what FFIX had.

Have you even seen the latest trailer and screenshots? Nothing much looks like FFIX. Well except that they do promise towns and npcs are back. But these are staples in an FF game as many believe. So it's more like going back to the right track.
Though I would love to see a new FF game similar to FFIX, i.e., going back to traditional art, setting, story and gameplay.
