Square Enix will be releasing 23 of the greatest Final Fantasy songs redone by an orchestra on blu-ray and a 12" record. The collection will be slated for release on 26 December for 5,250 yen for the Blu-Ray and 7,800 yen for the Blu-Ray/Record combo pack.

Confirmed tracks:

1. Golbez (Final Fantasy IV)
2. Battle with Four Friends (Final Fantasy IV)
3. The Opera (Final Fantasy VI)
4. Battle Medley (Final Fantasy VIII)
5. Eyes On Me (Final Fantasy VIII)*

*Jpop artist Crystal Kay will provide the vocals making this a cover of the Faye Wong version.

One thing I hate about these things is that there is never any variety; it's always the most famous or well-known pieces, they never delve into the tracks that aren't as well know, but just as good, if not better. I know it sells more that way, but...god, it's so boring. The Distant Worlds albums made half those songs as good as they're ever going to be, it wouldn't kill them to branch out a bit.

Also. One track from XII. That is a crime.
